Bob Mole. Photographer Rugby. Players and spectators

Since starting photography, as a hobby, with a 35mm Pentax SLR, I have progressed, as a local newspaper photographer in the 60'S to present day using mirror less Fuji cameras facilitating my enduring interest in sport and street photography. As a former rugby player, coach, referee and referee coach I have an enhanced understanding of the game enabling me to capture those 'special' moments.

Well it certainly did rain for this Bristol Saracens RFC V Old Elizabethans RFC Bristol Combination Vase¼ final fixture 12/3/26
Though Old E's were the 'home' side the fixture was held at Bristol Saracens RFC

Anyhow and despite the atrocious playing conditions the fixture was great to watch.

Frankly I am lucky to have captured the images I did.

My selection is attached.

Good luck Bristol Saracens RFC in your next fixture V Clevedon RFC

In what could be easily described as a "Local Derby", Bristol Saracens RFC V Barton Hill RFC 7/3/26.
Saracens took their preferred option of running up the slope in the 1st half and secured a 28 - 7 victory over Barts.
A bit fractious at times but expertly managed by Bristol Society ref Callum Hill.

The end of February 26 had me at Failand, Bristol to make images of the Old Bristolian's V Chosen Hill former pupils RFC Counties 1 Tribute Ale Western North 2025-26 fixture.
Old B's mid table 48 points, Chosen Hill bottom, failed to get onto the scoreboard.

On 8/11/25 Bristol Saracens kindly allowed me to hold a 1-2-1 photo shoot “teach” of their fixture versus Old Cs. This photo was taken by my “student “ Sylvie Samuels.
I have called it “what the ref didn’t see”

I was once again at Bristol Saracens RFC v Old Colstonians 8/11/25 to witness and photograph their 57 - 47 points victory. On this occasion I was conducting a 1-2-1 photographic "workshop" with Sylvie Samuels of North West Bristol Camera Club. Strangely enough I was able to watch more of the event without looking through the viewfinder
My huge thanks to John Howell for granting permission.
