✨ How much of what we see is shaped by the way we frame it?

Join us for Framing the World with Kinga Owczennikow ARPS, an inspiring online talk exploring how framing can transform an image, direct attention, and reveal new ways of seeing.

Using more than 50 photographs from her acclaimed project, Kinga will share how framing became both a creative tool and a way of questioning perception itself. Her work invites us to look beyond the obvious, slow down, and discover fresh perspectives in the everyday.

📷 Explore composition, storytelling, and visual language
📷 Discover how framing can strengthen your photographic voice

40% Project by RPS Women in Photography.
This beautiful portrait is of Munira Wilson MP by Qian Li a graduate of the on-campus MA Photography course at AUB.
The 40% Project by RPS Women in Photography is a national portrait series celebrating the 40% of UK MPs who are women. Capturing their stories, strength, and impact—one portrait at a time. The portrait of Munira Wilson MP was taken at her office near York House, Twickenham, on a sunny Friday afternoon.
As the Liberal Democrat MP for Twickenham, Munira is dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents in her constituency, including in the areas of health, the environment, the cost of living and transport. ✈️✈️

MP for Poplar & Limehouse photographed by in front of The Hale St Mural, which commemorates the Poplar Rates Rebellion & was painted by Mark Francis in 1990. Apsana cites the socialist history of the area as an inspiration. The Poplar Rates Rebellion was a historically significant tax protest in 1921. Local councillors (& future Labour Party leader George Lansbury), who’d undertaken a comprehensive programme of social reform in the area, stood up for the rights of their constituents who were suffering from hunger, poverty & unemployment, by refusing to pay unfairly weighted additional rates to the Greater London Authorities. The revolt defied government, the courts & Labour Party leadership but received widespread public support. The councillors knew they’d face jail, but stood firm. 30 were imprisoned including 6 women.

I found talking to Apsana about both the history & present day community projects of Poplar fascinating. I’d love to revisit the area & meet some of the other people working for the common good. It was an inspiring afternoon & Apsana’s dedicated commitment to her constituents was clear.

This is an alternative take on the portrait I made as part of the - which you can see further down the grid. The 40% Project is an initiative by celebrating the achievements & representation of a record number of women MPs in UK politics. It has been inspiring and encouraging to meet some of them, including Apsana, who are dedicated to fighting for rights and justice for all people, from Poplar to Palestine.

Rahimat Onize Shaibu

Growing up in Nigeria, photographer Rahimat Onize Shaibu was surrounded by traditional fabrics and hairstyles. After moving to the UK, she realised how deeply these were tied to identity, culture, and belonging.

Psychotherapist Alice Sinclair began photographing wildlife as a way to decompress on long walks. Over time, Alice’s observation of animals — urban foxes, especially — helped reshape her relationship with fear and deepen her practice.
