Project update: I'm going to stop running TPC for now.
I started a masters degree back in September, and since then I really haven't had the capacity to keep actively running the project. I'll be studying for at least another year, so I've known for a while that everything I had planned for the project would have to be put on the backburner.
But beyond all that, my approach to my own creative practice has changed; I've decided to stop taking on new photography bookings, and am trying to spend more time working on my own creative projects. Part of this involves changing what I do for my work altogether, and I think within this context it's unlikely I'll be able to run the project with any kind of consistency. The well of motivation that kept it running over the past five years just isn't there anymore, I'm afraid.
The money raised through Patreon over the past couple of years will still be put to good use though! While issue 2 of the magazine will now not come into being, I'll be using the money to keep the website running. I'm really pleased to say that the trans photographers directory I put together last year has been working well, and I'd like to keep it online to promote some of the amazing photographers on there!
I also intend to order some more copies of issue 1 of the magazine, and I like the idea of creating a smaller, one-off product based on the three trans portraits I was able to complete last year. Aster, Debbie and Chloe were all so lovely to work with, and they all wrote wonderful submissions for the project - it would be a shame not to showcase them anywhere.
Lastly, while I won't be actively doing anything new with the project, trying to host the occasional photowalk in Bristol doesn't strike me as too ambitious!
The Instagram feed will stay up, but I'm going to be changing the Patreon to a personal account, where followers can keep up with my own creative projects and work. See the slides above for more info, and give me a follow if you're interested in keeping up with my new work!
Thank you all for the support over the years! 🩵🩷🤍
