Sneak peek inside a brand new Pilates Studio, with Nicola Bryson
Nicola hired me to shoot her brand new space. “I am a Pilates teacher with 14 years experience.” She has created an incredible space inside her home for “1:1 or duet sessions and also a space to welcome and teach women who are pre or post operation (gynaecological). Creating tailored session that build strength, create body awareness and allow women to connect back to their body.”
We spent only two hours shooting together to creat an entire image bank of lifestyle portraits and details of the space to enable Nicola to fully populate her brand new website and deliver a marketing campaign to launch the new business.
This is what Nicola wrote me after our shoot “Thankyou so much for sending the images over yesterday. I absolutely love them! You have captured the space and my personality and made me so comfortable…” 🙏
If you have a new business to launch tap Personal Brand Shoot in the comments and I can send you some information about how we can work together!!!

My top posing tips!!

Tip 1 - Relaxed Shoulders and Good Posture

First, relaxed shoulders create a natural and comfortable look. It’s a simple adjustment with a big impact. So take a few deep breaths and let your shoulders drop. Second, to improve your posture imagine a piece of string which pulls your head up and then think about sucking your tummy towards your backbone.

Tip 2 - Shift Your Weight

Shifting weight to one leg helps to create a more dynamic and flattering silhouette. It’s a go-to for great posture. Or you could try standing on your tip toes to make you feel more confident.

Tip 3 - Hand Placement

Placing hands thoughtfully is key. Hands in pockets or gently touching the face can enhance the overall pose. Try lots of different ways of positioning your hands to create more interest and fun.

Tip 4 - Chin Position

Adjusting the chin slightly forward and down can beautifully define the jawline, adding elegance to the shot.

Tip 5 - Body Angles and Head Tipping

Photographing at a slight angle, rather than straight on, adds depth making the photo more captivating, as does turning the body 45 degrees away from the camera. Also try tipping the head to one side or the other to add more interest.

Tip 6 - Natural Smiles Capturing natural smiles is essential. Engage in conversation or share a joke to evoke genuine expressions. If you can’t think of a joke try a ‘fake laugh’ this will inevitably be followed by a real one!

Tip 7 - Use Props

Incorporating props like a chair or a hat can add a fun element and give the subject something to interact with.

Tip 8 - Movement

Encouraging subtle movements, like twirling or walking, standing on tips tows or swaying helps to create beautiful, candid shots full of life.

Tip 9 - Outfit Adjustments

Ensuring outfits are well adjusted prevents unflattering bunching or creases, keeping the look polished.

Tip 10 - Confidence Boost

Boosting confidence with positive feedback throughout the shoot makes a huge difference in the final results.

There you have it! Use these tips for a successful photoshoot. Follow for more tips and inspiration!

A sneaky peek at just a couple of images from a shoot last week with this wonderful human Amelia
We chose Hove beach as the location and we had a corker of a day to shoot on.
Amelia offers therapy and online courses to those who went to boarding school to acknowledge the impact it had on their development and their behaviour as adults.
If you have a business and you need impactful images to fill your socials, website and push your marketing efforts now is a really good time for location shooting. The weather is warm, the sun is making and we have so many special locations to choose from.

This was my lighting set up for yesterday’s shoot. Part 1 - I bounced a single softbox off a white wall (see the softbox pointed at the wall…) to replicate soft (window) directional, side light. Part 2 - I turned the softbox around and shine it directly on the subject to create a strong sidelight with high contrast. I also flipped the black reflector too silver to increase the contrast and add more highlights.
