Brighton Photo Fringe opens tomorrow night! At the collectives hub in Phoenix Art Space I will be showing for the first time with HOLD. We are a collective of four artists exploring our relationship to the natural world. I will be showing new work “Matkamuisto” [finnish - souvenir] which explores the ways in which photographs can create a longing for places or experiences now beyond reach.

It’s an absolute joy to be showing with

Beyond Silver has been extended until February 10th so you have until this Friday to catch it at The Hive Vittoria Street Birmingham.

Exhibition opening times:

Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 3.30pm. (Cafe open hours)

The London Alternative Photography Collective present “Beyond Silver”, an exhibition that explores the relationships between analogue photography and metallurgy. The exhibition will consider the use of silver in photography, as well as shining a light on many of the other metals that are used within photographic image production, in both historical and contemporary practice. In addition to silver, the exhibition will include works which utilise lesser known metals in photography including iron, copper, tin, aluminium, platinum and palladium.

Beyond Silver

I currently have work on display in this group show “Beyond Silver” and I travelled to Birmingham this week for the opening where I had the pleasure of meeting many of the participating artists. We all share an interest in experimentation with photographic techniques and there was a fantastic atmosphere, with open sharing of information and enthusiasm in particular for sustainable methods of image production. Beyond Silver is presented by The London Alternative Photography Collective. The exhibition explores the relationships between analogue photography and metallurgy and considers the use of silver in photography, as well as shining a light on many of the other metals that are used within photographic image production, in both historical and contemporary practice, including iron, copper, tin, aluminium, platinum and palladium. My toned cyanotypes, which are made using an iron-based process, are on display until February 6th.
