However many times I do it, there are still parts of the screenprint process that I find almost magical. One is of course the building up and overlaying of colours. Another is this stage: when the screen is washed off to reveal the stencils.
The screen is first coated with a light sensitive emulsion, then the opaque black artworks are exposed under a strong light source which hardens the areas not covered by an image. The areas where the light could not pe*****te remain unstable and can then be washed off.
It takes a lot of time to prep everything before getting down to the actual printing. But hopefully it’s worth it.
This screen now has 5 separate stencils on it, ready to print. Any idea what the subject matter is?
