Toxic masculinity is defined as a negative and sometimes harmful attitude commonly associated with men, such as the need to repress or hide emotions during stressful situations and or to act in an aggressive and dominant way.

‘The new Age of Innocence’ is an investigation into the vulnerability in masculinity. Its aim is to highlight a man’s femininity and the relationship with his body in order to show a contrast of how other people perceive a shirtless man and how sensitive he actually is about himself. When the model takes their shirt off it is normally assumed that they feel empowered and more masculine, but this might not be the case.

Last Spring I was grateful to become an “EDGE” award recipient.
For this award I created a body of work inspired by Polaroid’s.
My aim was to carry out an investigation to create a new image from a Polaroid by altering the picture via experimental techniques. Some of which would include, burning, freezing, burying, boiling in bleach/lemon juice, soaking in acidic liquids.
Below are some examples.

'The loneliness of the distant Alchemist'

Some images from my recent uni project (I spent hours upon hours in the darkroom for this project!)
The pictures below are photos taken of my A3 sized darkroom prints

An investigation in to Analogue photography and using different substances to push the chemistry of the negatives until it was completely destroyed.
Unlike the modern use of digital image making, the science of film photography requires chemical reactions to morph the film medium from one state to another.
Once this process was completed, the negatives were then set completely on fire, creating mangled, burnt to a crisp, strips of negatives which were then printed from, methodically in the darkroom.

With the Winter Olympics ending, I decided to post a couple of pictures that I took in 2015 of the GB Bobsleigh team at their trials.
These trails test the athletes weight and speed to establish pairings and order in the Bobsleigh.

Using a SX-70 polaroid camera I created these emulsion prints by deconstructing the polaroid image, before submerging in water and peeling apart the emulsion before manipulating it on to developed paper.
