The elephant's trunk nebula in Cepheus constellation. Captured from July to December last year and finally been processed into Hubble SHO palette.

It is located about 2400 light years away from Earth and is thought to be a site of star formation, containing several very young stars.

This is a widefield image of the beautiful SADR region along the central belt of milky way. It's full of so much detail that you can't capture with longer telescopes. It's captured using narrowband filters and edited in Hubble palette where Sulphur is mapped to Red channel, Hydrogen is mapped to Green and Oxygen is mapped to Blue. So in this image, yellow/orange areas are mainly hydrogen, and the redder parts are sulphur, with oxygen making up the blue parts.

Some of the notable objects here are Butterfly nebula (big bright orange section lower left), Crescent Nebula (bright object in the middle) and the Tulip Nebula (bright object upper right section).

The image is made up of 2 different panels and each panel has 5 hours of Hydrogen (Ha), 4 hours of Sulphur (Sii) and 4 Hours Oxygen (Oiii) and was captured over multiple nights back in November.

M81 (Bode Galaxy - the bottom one) and M82 (Cigar Galaxy - top one) in HaLRGB.
This was meant to be my last winter project. I'm not a big fan of galaxies as they are small and difficult to get good images without longer telescopes but thought I'd this one because of the background dust.

I was hoping the dust in the background to be more pronounced but i struggled bringing it out without blowing the stars too much or introducing too much noise. Possibly one to re-process again in the future.

I give you all my heart... nebula that is...
I started this image back in October. It took me couple of months to get all the data I needed for the SHO palette. I then initially processed it in Photoshop but was never truly happy with the result.
I finally got PixInsight couple months ago and been working on reprocessing this there. It took me many attempts to get the colours I wanted using the pixel math, and then many more attempts to get small stars. But I am finally happy with the end result.

Today I decided to reprocess this image of Orion Constellation. It was originally captured in Exmoor back in January 2017. Comparing it with the older version, I definitely didn't do it justice back then with my processing.

Orion constellation is probably one of the most colorful parts of the winter night sky. Some of the notable features are the witches head nebula (bottom right), great orion nebula (middle lower blue nebula), horsehead and flame nebulas (middle), barnard's loop (big arch of gas on the left of the frame) and other numerous gas and dust clouds.

I always thought this photo had a Christmas feel to it so I wanted to share it on Christmas Eve. Comet Neowise captured back in the summer glowing bright over Burrow Mump in Somerset Levels.

Wishing everyone a good Christmas. Hope you can manage to enjoy it despite the circumstances.

This little dassie rat was kind enough to pose at the right place as I was photographing the quiver trees in Namibia. I would like to pretend it was intentional but it was simply being in the right place at the right time.

Granite hills of Swopmanskoop in Northern Namibia. Under a bright moon, the details of the landscape are clearly visible even at night. Bright moonlight is a great time to create star trails similar to this one as the sky is often too bright to capture details of Milky Way...
