On a windy day at the end of April, I took an afternoon wander around Wistlandpound Reservoir. With the trees fully in leaf, it was very much a case of hearing lots of birds but seeing few. I was very lucky though and heard, saw and was able to photograph the elusive and fast moving Goldcrest. It was under dark canopy, against a bright sky, so not great photos but it made my afternoon. Lots of Willow Warblers, Chiffchafs and Blue T**s around too.

Some of our smaller garden residents and visitors from this week. I don't own a macro lens so used my Canon RF100-500 with focus stacking on some shots. My ID's might be off as I'm no expert with these creatures.

This week has seen fledglings making an appearance in the garden. Sitting on the deck with a early morning coffee, we heard our resident Blackbirds sounding an alarm call which prompted one of their young to head for a safe perch - in this instance that perch was my head - where it happily stayed for 5 wonderful minutes. Sadly no photos.
Later in the week we were treated to the local starlings bringing their young to the garden to be fed and I was able spend a wonderful 30 minutes observing their behaviour.

Our Blackbirds and Sparrows just love their bird bath. We make sure it's cleaned and topped up regularly otherwise they just sit on the edge and stare at us. Here's our resident female Blackbird after a refreshing dip.

I thought I'd take advantage of the good weather this morning and see if I could get some shots of the Grebes performing the w**d dance at Lower Tamar Lake. Sadly there was only one Great Crested Grebe present but did manage to get a couple of nice Cormorant shots. Canon R6ii & R7 with EF500+1.4TC.
