Yep, had the cows for company for this one! Extra pressure to make content as a photographer gets to me sometimes, I think it does us all.

The more time I've spent out with fellow dog owners, the more I've wanted to find a way to bring the Photography by Frankie experience to more of you. Community style.
Portrait Walks with Frankie is a monthly small group dog walk around some of my favourite locations in Cumbria and South West Scotland. Each walk aims to bring together up to three dogs from different homes and their humans, a few hours of fresh air, good company with a flask of tea / coffee and snackies, and me photographing each dog along the way.
If you come along for the walk, you will receive one fully retouched digital social media sized image of your dog from the walk delivered within a week. Love it and want to take things further? A £20 saving on a full private portrait session is yours to claim if you attend.
The inaugural Portrait Walk with Frankie will be on Friday 26th June in Quarry Beck Woods & Lanercost in Cumbria. There will be a max. of 3 dogs permitted to join.
Enjoy the special introductory price of £35 per dog, including up to 2 of their favourite humans.

It's Testimonial Tuesday again!
Meet Mabel. A border collie with the most expressive eyes I've ever had the pleasure of pointing a camera at.
Her human left me this wonderful review and it made me smile from ear-to-ear. The bit that really got me? "You can tell that Frankie not only cares about the photos she takes but also the safety of the pets."
The fact that Mabel's human picked up on this means everything to me, because before I think about the shot, I think about the animal. The best images come from a dog who feels safe, calm and trusted and that's something you can't fake, and something you certainly can't rush.
30 five-star Google reviews and counting. Thank you, all of you. ❤️

Because I shoot for the wall, not for the gram. 📷

A great deal of photography these days is shot with a screen in mind, it has to crop nicely to fit a feed, is something to scroll by and be forgotten about by tomorrow. A lot of my work doesn’t play nicely with the vertical obsession or ‘perform’ on socials because it was never shot ‘for’ socials - it is created for a wall, to be displayed at least 40 inches wide above your fireplace. Something to be looked at, loved and remembered… tomorrow, and the day after that, and the day after that.

I'm off there today for their annual open day - can't wait to watch the dog show and the sheepdog demos. 🥰

Time for another Testimonial Tuesday, and this week's words of kindness come from Pip's guardian. I've had the privilege of photographing Pip not once, but twice now, as she also had a portrait session in York a few months after this one.
I captured Pip in her local city Newcastle, down at the Quayside, and got some truly wow images with some Toon icons as supporting characters in the backdrop. I would absolutely love to shoot more urban sessions at sunrise, whether that's in Carlisle or Newcastle (or anywhere else, for that matter) as I definitely did a lot more of this when I was photographing dogs in Hong Kong and I really miss it!
Of course, the natural landscape is so achingly beautiful where I do shoot the majority of the time so I really cannot complain at all. But I will say, if you come to me to shoot some urban portraits you'll not only make me a very happy camera lady, you'll also have images that really are that little bit different. ✨
