Port Carlisle is a coastal village in Cumberland, Cumbria, England, within the civil parish of Bowness-on-Solway. Originally named Fisher's Cross, it became an important trade and passenger hub when the Carlisle Canal was established, serving as Carlisle’s sea outlet.

The Carlisle Canal, completed in 1823, connected Carlisle to Ireland, Scotland, and Liverpool, with Port Carlisle acting as its terminus. However, competition from deep-water ports and railways led to its closure in 1853.

The Port Carlisle Railway was built on the canal’s former route in 1854 to maintain access to Carlisle. Initially, freight and passenger services continued, but as the Solway estuary silted up and better port facilities emerged in Silloth, traffic declined. A steam railmotor named Flower of Yarrow was introduced in 1914 to keep the line operational, but the railway was eventually closed in 1932.

The village was served by Port Carlisle railway station, which has since been repurposed into a car park. Remnants of the canal basin and railway can still be seen, including an offshore wharf built in 1836 to accommodate larger vessels.
