Manor Way... the only time you’ll ever get a parking space at the shops🚗🅿️😂

During the day, this row of shops is absolutely packed. Between people popping into the convenient stores, dropping washing off at the laundrette, or heading down to the social club and the park, it's a huge spot in our local Town!

But when I stood at the top of the hill at 5:00 AM on Saturday morning, it was very quiet. It was so nice catching it completely empty and peaceful before the morning delivery vans and the usual daily rush started..🏙🚦

Stirling Corner... the calm before the chaos! 🚗🌅✨

If you’ve ever been stuck here at 5:30 PM on a weekday commuting home from work, school, or the shops, seeing it this quiet makes the whole junction feel completely unrecognizable! 😆

I caught a quiet moment at the roundabout early yesterday morning. This massive junction is the gateway to so many places, but seeing that long, curve of empty road completely still was unreal. It’s amazing how a beautiful sunrise carries that overnight stillness, yet so quickly Stirling Corner becomes such a busy, hectic part of our town's daily life.

No matter how you look at it, this roundabout is a massive anchor for our community, and connected to everyday life!🚦

"It’s in the parks where children play, the scenery changing day by day.."🌳🌅

Following on from my high street poem, I wanted to share a little bit of the quiet scenery I captured at Manor Way Park early this morning.

Before the weekend rush begins, the park was completely calm, with the most incredible golden light. I love finding these peaceful moments right here in our town! 🥰

We really do have some beautiful green spaces right on our doorstep if you catch them at the right time!

The Heart of The Wood 🌳🇬🇧

Some say it’s changed, or grown too fast,
That things look different from the past.
A little run down here and there,
With busy streets and crowded air.

But look beneath the daily rush,
Before the morning traffic’s crush.
Down Shenley Road when things are still,
From Borehamwood village up to Elstree Hill.

It’s in the studios where history's made,
Where BBC and Elstree’s stars have played.
Borehamwood Football Club where dignity runs deep,
And memories that our families forever keep.

The local charities that extend a hand,
To help our neighbors across the land.
Our churches standing side by side,
With community centers filled with pride.

Our town council working through the year,
To bring us events full of joy and cheer.
From Families Day to the winter light switch-on glow,
And the Farmers Market where the locals go.

We stand as one when the music plays,
On Remembrance Sunday and VE Day.
Honoring the past with a silent prayer,
For the history that we all share.

It’s in the parks where children play,
The scenery changing day by day.
The small businesses that clear the space,
To serve a neighbor face-to-face.

For all the change the years may bring,
The heart of The Wood is a special thing.
Through every shift, it stands its ground —
Because it’s home, our little town. ❤️

An Appreciation Moment🩷🥹📸

I am completely blown away by the incredible kindness and support from everyone lately! Reading through your comments and messages truly means the absolute world to me.

Whenever things get a bit tough, or I start to doubt myself, looking back at these amazing comments completely lifts me up. They remind me exactly why I love what I do and why I started this photography journey in the first place..🩷

As a photographer, my biggest goal is to make everyone feel comfortable, relaxed, and captured in their best light. I’ve put together a little look at some of the lovely feedback and highlights from the past few months, since starting my photography journey and to show you what SnapsBySoph is all about! 🥰📸

A Different World: Leeming Road at 5:00 AM (Part 2) 🌅🤫📸

Following on from yesterday’s post, I wanted to share a couple more snaps from my quiet morning walk.

Anyone who knows this stretch knows how packed it gets with locals during the day, running from the Co-op🛍 , to the chemist 🏥, or bows salon💇🏼‍♀️, to a local favorite - The Green Dragon🍺. It’s so strange seeing the whole street completely standing still at 5am, except for the warm glow peeking through the shutters at Bakerfull☕️🥐. It really is a completely different vibe from a Friday night😆.

It just goes to show you don't have to travel far to find a bit of peace and quiet - sometimes it's right on our doorstep if we get up early enough🥰.

A Different World: Leeming Road at 5:00 AM 🌅🤫📸

Anyone who knows Borehamwood knows how incredibly busy and built-up Leeming Road usually is during the day. It's always full of life and movement - and let's be honest, usually a siren or 2 echoing down the road..😅🚨

But stepping outside at 5:00 AM this morning felt like walking into a completely different world.
There was total silence over the streets. No traffic, no rushing, just the quiet morning air, and the soft morning light hitting the paths. Taking a moment to slow down and capture our community in these rare, peaceful moments is what I love most about landscape and street photography..🥰

Baby Shower Celebrations 🍼🩷 - 06/06/2026

Yesterday I had the absolute joy of capturing a very special Baby Shower for my cousin Ryan Southwell and his lovely partner Roksana Sobolak!
It was so incredibly beautiful to see both families, and lot's of friends, come together to celebrate the upcoming arrival of their baby girl! 🩷

🌟 The Games: Leah Rose did an absolutely amazing job at hosting all the games and keeping everyone laughing (along with the funniest entertainment from Andrew Williams, attempting the games😂.)

🥪 The Food & Treats: The spread was incredible, from sandwiches, to the little thank you gifts for the guests, the presentation was beautiful and the the food tasted amazing! A huge shout-out to the cake lady who made the most beautiful cakes - they also tasted absolutely delicious🧁✨.

🎨 The Keepsakes: The craft table where guests could design bibs and colour blocks to create special memories for the baby when she arrives, along with guessing her due date! 📅

Thank you so much, Ryan and Roksana, for letting me capture these priceless memories for you - it was the most precious day to celebrate baby girl, the whole set up was absolutely beautiful! You are going to be the best parents, and I can't wait to meet the newest little family member! 🩷🍼

May Reflection 📸✨️

As May comes to an end, I am looking back through my highlights on what a busy month it's been, and it’s been a month of true self-reflection for SnapsBySoph as my photography journey continues to grow! 🫶🏻

👑 Special Honors: Having the absolute privilege of being invited to capture the Mayor Making ceremony for our town's new Mayor, Councillor Tushar Kumar. An unforgettable evening celebrating our local leadership!

🏃‍♂️ High Energy Events: Dodging paint to capture all the vibrant smiles and messy chaos at the Borehamwood Colour Run, and getting pitch-side to capture the intense action at the local Youth Football Cup Finals!

🎪 Festival & Market Vibes: From the unique stalls at the Borehamwood Farmers and Craft Market and the indoor car boot at Fairway Hall, to the incredible aromas at the Romanian Festival at Meadow Park. I’ve loved showcasing our amazing local vendors!

🤍 Family & Connection: Behind the scenes, May has had its difficult moments, but it has reminded me of the importance of holding family close. Spending so much quality time with my loved ones has kept me grounded and focused on doing what I love most. Every step of this journey is driven by that passion, keeping my dad’s memory close to my heart with every single shutter click✨.

To each and every business, organisation, and individual who has let me into their world this month - a huge thank you to you all - I've enjoyed EVERY MOMENT!🩷 Also a massive thank you to my photography journey community who are far from unnoticed: your follow, likes, comments & support means more than anything to me and I will continue capturing our Town and community! 🩷📸
