📸 A bit of an honest thought from me today as a local photographer…
Recently I’ve been noticing more and more local businesses using AI-generated images to promote their food, drinks, and products on social media. I won’t name any names — this isn’t about calling anyone out — but it is something that’s been disappointing to see.
As someone who works in photography and supports our local creative community, it’s frustrating because:
• it replaces real local talent
• it can be misleading for customers who expect what they see advertised
• and it contributes to a growing culture of “quick and cheap” over authentic and genuine
One of the best things about local businesses is that they’re local. We’ve got photographers, designers, videographers and creatives right here in our communities who would love to help showcase what makes your business special — properly and honestly.
AI might feel like an easy shortcut, but it often comes at the cost of authenticity, trust, and even environmental impact 🌍
I’d love to see more businesses investing in real people, real creativity, and real representation of what they offer. Supporting local should include supporting local creatives too 🤝
