 Before their wedding celebrations begin in the UK next month, Simran & Young took us to the breathtaking Amalfi Coast for a pre-wedding shoot that felt straight out of a modern romance film. From cliffside moments to intimate editorial frames hidden within the streets of Italy, every image captures not just how beautiful they are together — but how it feels to be in love before the big day arrives.

Photographing a Sikh wedding isn’t just about capturing moments — it’s about honouring the rhythm of the day. The stillness before the ceremony begins, the warmth of family gathered close, the glow of the Guru Granth Sahib presiding over it all. And then, the portraits — where the world softens for a moment, and it’s just the two of them, wrapped in colour, connection, and something quietly profound.

What draws me in every time is that balance: elegance and emotion, tradition and individuality. No two couples carry it the same way. Some are playful, some reserved, some completely lost in each other — all of it real, all of it worth preserving.

Still trying to find the right words for this… I’m incredibly honoured to have been awarded 1st place – Wedding Photographer of the Year at the SWPP Annual Print Competition. 🏆

This win means a lot, not just because of the title, but because of the countless couples who trust me with their most important moments, and the community that continues to inspire me every day.

A heartfelt thank you to the judges and everyone at The Societies of Photographers for the time, care, and dedication they put into this competition. Seeing the talent in those rooms makes this recognition feel all the more humbling.

To my couples, colleagues, and friends—thank you for your support, encouragement, and for believing in my work. And to the couple featured in this winning image, thank you for letting me be a small part of your story.

I’m truly humbled to have woken up this morning to the news that I’ve been awarded 1st Place at the ICON International Photography Awards in Las Vegas for the “Couple Together – Wedding Day” category.

Still pinching myself.

Melissa & Jerry — thank you. Your trust in me and your willingness to embrace creativity made this possible. I’m forever grateful to work with amazing clients who give me complete creative freedom. That trust is everything.

This image was created very intentionally. I designed it with the goal of producing a unique mount within the competition rules — but also to push boundaries and attempt something that hadn’t been done before. To experiment. To risk. To create beyond the expected.

It paid off.

Thank you as well to the judges for seeing and honouring the vision behind the work. Moments like this remind me why I love what I do.
