SPITFIRE AT 90

90 years ago today, Captain Joseph Summers flew the Spitfire Prototype for the first time out of Eastleigh at exactly 4:43pm, upon landing he said “don’t change a thing”. Over the 90 years that have passed since, the iconic spitfire design has undergone various iterations and modifications including transforming it from an armed interceptor fighter, to an unarmed photo reconnaissance platform as well as inspired thousands of aviation fans around the globe.

I’ve added to this post, in order of “marks” some of my favourite spitfires that I have photographed as well as some other shots from the incredible Sywell Airshow mass formation and tail chase from 2024 at the end!
