For the second year running the Historic Helicopters sent the amazing Westland Sea King to the Midlands Air Festival. Maybe next year they will send the Whirlwind and Wessex too.

Last year I shot the Sea King at 1/15th of a second to get the full disc, this year I got down to 1/10th of a second handheld.

Sunday, May 11th saw the first airshow of the session at Old Warden. Having not been to Old Warden since the Covid lock down shows, I decided to end my birthday weekend joining some friends for the day for the session opener. And what a day it was, dispite serveral aircraft going tech (Dakota, Swordfish, Fury & Catalina), beeing cold & windy, bad light and overcast low grey clouds and a 55min wait for food, it was still a amazing day. Sadly due to the wind, the Edwardian aircraft didn't leave the hanger, but this meant an end of show extended display from the Supermarine Spitfire MK Vc AR501 and MK IXb MH434, and an even bigger bonus, a little bit of blue sky and the occasioan burst of sunlight.

All images shot at 1/60th to 1/80th.
