π THE VEIL NEBULA β EASTERN VEIL
Look closelyβ¦ this isnβt smoke, clouds or something from a distant galaxy.
These incredible filaments are the remains of a massive star that exploded thousands of years ago, and weβre still seeing the enormous shockwave spreading through space. π₯β¨
This is the Eastern Veil (NGC 6992), captured from East Sussex. The delicate blue strands and deep red hydrogen clouds reveal an astonishing amount of structure hidden in what appears to be a tiny patch of the night sky.
