As the year is drawing to a close, I look back on what has been a bit of a rollercoaster of a year for me, with some wonderful highs and some really, REALLY low points which sent me back into counselling and upping my anti-anxiety meds.
It started with moving into a new house, which is one of the most stressful things someone can do when everything goes right, and our move certainly didn't "go right" with it looking certain to collapse right up to the day of exchange with the lawyer of our buyer going AWOL until nearly six in the evening. But we're here now and we love the place, but have had almost endless tasks in righting so many bodges, half-arsed jobs and downright stupid alterations the previous owner left us with, but we are finally getting there and are really looking forward to 2026 to actually enjoy the house without worrying about what horror we're going to find next!
Work this year has been a little more sporadic than I would have liked, but - trying to look at the positives - it did give me time to work on many of the aforementioned bodges!
High points include celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary in the Dominican Republic which were some of the ten best days of my life; a house-warming party celebrating with so many friends and family; building my new much-improved studio and having it opened by the Mayor of Bexhill and also my son doing far better than expected in his GCSEs!
So with all the anxiety and stress hopefully now in the rear view, or at least now with me being in a place that I feel I'm better equipped to manage it with our very cute new addition to the family, I look forward to 2026 with slight trepidation, but a great deal of hope and thought I'd share some of my favourite images from this year. They may not necessarily be my 'best' photos, but they're the ones that I've enjoyed taking the most, and the ones that mean the most to me for various reasons.
It may be a little early to wish you all a happy new year, but I'm going to do it anyway as I intend to shut down the computer and do as little as possible over the holidays and enjoy some family time.
Here's to a fantastic 2026 to you all x
