I’m Caroline Chan, a Belfast-based photographer capturing people, brands and events throughout Ireland and the UK. Before this, I spent 15+ years in tech leading software and product projects for mission-driven organisations. That experience in brand storytelling, visual identity and customer experience shapes how I work today. I plan with purpose, keep things simple, and deliver images that help

your audience connect. My sessions are relaxed and collaborative. If you’re camera-shy, you’re in safe hands! Expect natural portraits and storytelling details that feel like you and support your brand. Away from shoots, it’s coffee, quiet walks, good books, and life with my husband and our (very stubborn!) mini schnauzer, Herb. A terrible act carried out by one person should never become a reason to target innocent people.

No one should be threatened, intimidated or made to feel unsafe because of their nationality, ethnicity, religion or background.

Northern Ireland is richer because of the many cultures, backgrounds and communities that call it home.

Violence against innocent people is never the answer.

There is no place for racism here 🕊️

Is anyone else finding Instagram a time drain these days? 😅

I know it’s part of running a business and I’m grateful for the opportunities it’s brought me, but sometimes it feels like every post needs a strategy, a hook, trending audio and a marketing plan 😂

EXHAUSTING! So I’m taking things back to Instagram circa 2015 and will post pics I like, sometimes just 1 at a time. Gasp!!! 🤣

Brand Shoot Spotlight 📸✨

Can we take a minute to appreciate the fabulous Stephanie Vaughan ?

One of my favourite parts of brand photography is the planning that happens before anyone steps in front of the camera.

Stephanie and I spent time discussing her business, the clients she loves working with, and where she wants to grow. As she’s currently working with more clients in the aesthetics and wellness space, we considered how the images could appeal to that audience while still aligning with her profession and brand.

Instead of “accountant photos”, the goal was to create images that feel professional but approachable, with a softer, brighter look that aligns with the clients she wants to reach.

Every great brand shoot starts with understanding the person behind the business, and Stephanie made that process an absolute dream! Shout out to for the gorgeous space with the most beautiful natural light and the warmest welcome.

For years, Clockwise Offices Belfast has been part of my career journey.

I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Rachel and the team through events, networking groups, and collaborations over the years. They’ve always been so welcoming, supportive, and genuinely invested in helping businesses and people connect.

Very happy to now be an official member and have a base here!😊

While I spend a lot of time out and about photographing amazing people, businesses and events across NI, it’s great to have a place to work from, meet clients for a coffee, and be part of such a supportive community.

What your photographer wants you to know… ❤️

You don’t need to know how to pose.
You don’t need to be “naturally confident” in front of the camera.
And you definitely don’t need to become a different version of yourself for great photos!

Most of the people I work with are founders, creatives and small business owners who simply want images that feel natural, relaxed and aligned with who they are.

A big part of the process actually happens before the camera even comes out. I love getting to know people, hearing about their business, ideas and personality, then shaping the creative direction together through locations, styling, moodboards and storytelling.

The best shoots don’t feel overly performative or stiff. They feel collaborative and authentic ❤️

The most best moments are usually the in-between ones 📸

Out and about yesterday on a wee photo walk with the very talented Azean Blue Mascara Studios 📸

It started to rain, so we dashed into the 2 Royal Avenue cultural hub and ended up meeting this lovely gent, Brendan Mulhall ❤️ Brendan is 82 years young, part of Uke Jam, a ukulele player, and regularly takes part in Parkruns to raise money for Air Ambulance NI 👏

It’s moments like this really make me realise how much photography has helped me connect with people again. When I moved back here from London 12 years ago, while still working remotely for mostly London companies, I don’t think I ever fully settled back here!

Starting photography and building this wee business has introduced me to so many brilliant people, creatives and communities I’d never have met otherwise.

Sometimes you just need to get out, step outside your own bubble and realise there’s so much happening around you. Slowly but surely, you find your people ❤️📸

Really looking forward to supporting the amazing work of the Mae Murray Foundation again this summer ❤️

I’ll be volunteering my event photography services at a couple of their inclusive beach events, capturing some of the lovely moments and atmosphere from the day.

They’re also looking for volunteer photographers across other events, so if anyone would like to get involved and support a brilliant charity creating genuinely inclusive experiences for families and individuals across NI, definitely give them a follow
