This entry updates one from May, which showed the replacement memorial board for QEII in Glengormley. To the right of the info board there is now a case containing a crown with a bouquet of orange lilies in front, and a smaller arrangement of orange and purple flowers (the colours of the UVF, though this is a UDA area) above. Sandy Row Stands Together

Hugh Smyth OBE

This is a new version of the Hugh Smyth board in Canmore Street, in the upper Shankill. It is very similar to the previous version (see Third-Class Citizens), with the main difference being the addition of the OBE medal that Smyth was awarded in 1996 for 'services to the community'. There is also explicit mention of Smyth's titles, as "The right honourable, alderman, and Lord Mayor of Belfast 1994-1995"....

The Big Plastic Pledge

The Foyle Maritime Festival encourages people to pledge to reduce their use of plastics, so that the amount of plastic entering the seas and waterways is reduced. In 2022 this mural of a seal swimming next to a plastic bottle was painted to accompany the pledge by Peaball (ig) at Foyleview apartments. Monkey Shaving The Goat

The drive to revive Belfast's "Brewery Quarter" comes from Bell's Brewery at The Deer's Head (web) in Lower Garfield Street. Bell's itself is a tribute to the brewery of John Bell in the late 1700s, one of many in what was then known as Bell's Lane (Ireland On A Budget).
