Whatβs usually a lovely tradition for my son and me β Christmas shopping followed by lunch in town β was sadly let down this year by our visit to "THE KITCHEN BAR" - Belfast
We chose it because of the great meal we had here last year, but this time it was disappointing from start to finish. We were among the first customers seated at opening for lunch.
Starters were mixed: the cheesy garlic bread was fine, but my baked brie arrived cold in the middle. It was replaced, but seemed rushed (likely microwaved), and there was very little sauce to balance the richness.
For mains, I ordered the Irish ham with cabbage and crispy parsnips β a dish Iβd been looking forward to β and my son had turkey and ham with no vegetables. My ham was extremely poor: one very thin slice, badly presented, and nothing like the same dish we were served last year (photos show a huge difference).
My sonβs turkey arrived with vegetables anyway, swimming in watery gravy, and the roast potatoes were barely cooked and not crispy at all.
Overall, a very disappointing experience and far below expectations, especially compared to last year. It put a dampener on what should have been a special day out.
