🚁 This orange trail across London represents two years of medical drone deliveries between two major hospitals.

Using flight data from Apian, George Cave mapped every drone journey between Guy’s Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital, creating this impressive 3D visualisation of the flights over London.

🏥 Despite being just 1.3 miles apart, transporting blood samples between the hospital laboratories by road previously took over 30 minutes.

Since October 2024, Apian reports having transported more than 13,000 clinical items by drone across London, with the initial phase of this route delivering an average 28% reduction in costs.

The network has now expanded to include Great Ormond Street Hospital, where Matternet drones are transporting paediatric pathology samples for laboratory testing.

This is a fantastic example of how drone technology can go far beyond photography and surveying, providing real, measurable benefits to healthcare.

We've recently invested in defibrillators (AEDs) for our office and staff vehicles, ensuring that potentially life-saving equipment is readily available when it matters most.

As a business, we believe looking after our people goes beyond the working day. Whether we're in the office, travelling between jobs or working on-site, having access to a defibrillator could make all the difference in an emergency.

🚨 The next step is refresher training.

While our team is already first aid trained, we want to go one step further by providing dedicated CPR and defibrillator refresher training, ensuring everyone feels confident using our new equipment should the need ever arise.

🚨 120 METRES (400FT) – THERE'S A REASON FOR THE LIMIT! 🚁✈️

Today was a stark reminder of just how important drone safety and altitude restrictions really are.

Two RAF Typhoon fighter jets. Travelling at an incredible rate of knots. Appearing with very little warning.

By the time you hear them, they could already be upon you.

As drone operators, we must remember that the skies above us are shared with manned aviation, including military aircraft travelling at speeds we simply cannot react to quickly enough.

The 120m (400ft) maximum height limit isn't just a regulation. It's a crucial safety measure designed to reduce the risk of conflict with other aircraft.

And remember, military aircraft can operate below 400ft too. Staying within the limit doesn't remove the need to remain vigilant.

✅ Respect the 120m height limit.

✅ Maintain awareness of your surroundings and airspace.

✅ Always give way to manned aircraft.

✅ Never assume the skies above you are empty.

No photograph, video or drone survey is worth putting an aircraft or its crew at risk.
