Male Mallard Mid call. Did you know that its the Female Mallard that produces the classic “Quack” sound that everyone is familiar with?! The Male/Drake Mallard, generally produces a quieter call.

Another Barn Owl shot from my recent encounter in the Scottish Borders. I had an amazing time spending a couple of hours with these incredible birds before sundown. There was a family of 4 and they took it in turns to come to the edge of the hole and peek around the corner, before flying out.

I have included 2 different crops to this post. I personally love the tighter crop, as it shows the detail in the Owl’s face and is something different to the usual wider/full frame crops. I would love to hear which one is your favourite in the comments 👇🏻

I hope you enjoy 😃❤️

A Juvenile Moorhen calling for food 📸

On a recent trip to one of my favourite country parks, i saw this Juvenile Moorhen, which was walking on the path with its parents and asking them to bring food (something we have all done 🤣). Luckily, i was able to get down on the floor and set up for this shot, without scaring off the bird. I find that getting as low as possible always gives the best chance of getting shots with a beautiful background. This is the first time I’ve been able to get a nice shot of a Juvenile Moorhen, so I’m really pleased to add this photo to my collection.

My first ever Red Fox shots! I have seen Red Foxes on numerous occasions, but have never been in the position to get photo’s of them, so the 5am start to find them before sunrise was definitely worth it. There was actually 4 cubs around and it was great to see them play fighting with each other and having fun.

I can’t wait for the next opportunity to photograph these amazing wild animals.

This particular fox struck 3 different poses and I have added them to this post. I would love to hear which one is your favourite.

A Barn Owl in flight. Seeing these birds in the wild is a spectacular thing to witness, you just have to make sure that the conditions are perfect, if there is any heavy rain or strong winds, they won’t come out.

A few different shots of a Nuthatch from a recent trip to a local country park. These birds are absolutely stunning and it’s not very often that I can get close enough to get clear shots, so this was fantastic.

I was recently on the lookout for a Juvenile Great Spotted Woodpecker, when this beautiful Great Tit dropped down in front of me and struck the perfect pose, presenting me with the opportunity to get this shot 📸
