Summer is amazing time for a wedding! What could be better than spending an amazing day with the best friends and family and celebrating a union of two loving hearts?
We were packing our bags with equipment at midnight looking rather worried at the forecast for Saturday – there was nothing less than a weather warning and a half of a monthly rainfall to arrive exactly by the time we will be leaving the church! No pressure at all! We drove to the hotel to start with preparation under a heavy rain and thinking already not about plan B, but rather plan C and D – the upcoming wedding was at historical St. Mary’s Church right in the middle of Portchester castle perched a shore of Portsmouth Harbour (to say it is open to all elements – is to say nothing at all).
Of course it is not about us, we will take all the pictures in any weather, but we really want to see happy and smiling faces celebrating The Day – and on that Saturday morning it was so easy to be crushed by low, very dark clouds, heavy raindrops with sudden gusts of wind! Oh my!
It was such a relief to see Douglas and Eloise on that gloomy morning for the first time that morning with amazing smiles and genuinely enjoying the day! It was amazing preparation with such a relaxed atmosphere and friendly jokes (keep in mind – there is still a wall of rain right outside the window all that morning!)
Then, there was something magical, something of higher powers – for that couple hours when everyone arrived at the beautiful church in the middle of Portchester Castle – the rain has stopped completely, the ruthless gusts of wind disappeared into a gentle breeze. It did not last long, but it was exactly the moment everyone needed to celebrate the day and to make some stunning pictures with dramatic skies and bright, contrasty colours which you can only get after the rain.
It was so inspiring, so beautiful to have a privilege of taking pictures of Douglas and Eloise last Saturday. Looking back – it feels that even if the rain will be there, nothing would stop them of being amazing, so happy, and triumphant.
We have so many great pictures so it is hard to start with a first selection, but let us try! Our most sincere congratulations and best wishes to Douglas and Eloise!
(and That guitar solo, you know what we are about!)
