This is the central area of a nebula known as The Heart Nebula. It really is the heart of The Heart Nebula. 56 hours integration time all told. 35 hours of data from this year combined with about 20 hours from last year.

So, this is a night-time target I've just about finished imaging, unless I return to it next year.

It's a total of 75 hours of exposures, made up from 450 x 10 minute shots, taken in the last month (30 hours) and 45 hours from this time last year.

It's something called Cygnus Wall, which is located in an area of sky known as the North American Nebula.

Why do I go back and retake and stack the same images on previous images, because thats how you get a really clean image (free from 'noise') and also thats how you get to capture those really faint and obscure areas, such as the wispy tendrils coming out of the black area to the right.

Enjoy.

A little something from the last couple of weeks. This is the Crescent Nebula. A highly active cosmic bubble and emission nebula located roughly 5,000 light-years away.
Because the recent weather has been less than agreeable regarding taking pics I started this at the beginning on the month and finished it Friday night. Just about exactly 24 hours of exposure time.
The red in the image is from Hydrogen Alpha (an ionised plasma gas emitted rather than the gases we experience on Earth). The bluish/green tinge surrounding the crescent is oxygen.

Celestron SCT 8", EQ6R-Pro, ZWOASI2600MM, RGB.

This target is known as M3, as well as NGC5272. It's a globular cluster. Approx 33,000 light years from earth. 33,000 years! Makes ya wonder doesn't it! When I process these images I often wonder what was happening on earth when those photons left that planet before they arrived on the cameras sensor. Answers on a postcard.
