📍 Barton-upon-Humber — Barton Market, Part II

Second load of photos from the market.

It’s been a bit of a zebra-crossing kind of day. I found myself watching this crossing more than anything else — people stopping, waiting, walking across, the odd wave, and then disappearing onto the other side.

Nothing staged, nothing planned. Just people going about their day and those little moments that happen without you really noticing them.

The pause, the walk, the wave, the hurried steps, the people taking their time.

That’s what I love about street photography — watching everyday life happen in front of you and catching those little moments before they’re gone.

📍Barton Town CricketClub Barton Park Bowls

Still got loads of photos I’ve been meaning to post, so I thought I’d start with these few!

A few weeks ago, I was asked if I’d pop over to the cricket club and take some group photos for Barton Park Bowls Club, who were celebrating their centenary — 1926–2026.

It was great to see a few familiar faces and have a catch-up while I was there. Unfortunately, I only had a few hours spare, so I would have loved to have stayed longer and captured more photos, but I had to head off as I was due to photograph a short horror film.

It was a pleasure to be there and help capture a small part of such a special occasion.

📍 Barton-upon-Humber — Waters' Edge Visitor Centre & Country Park

A great few hours at Waters’ Edge with my dad, enjoying the classic cars and doing a bit of people-watching along the way.

I’m still feeling tired and not quite 100%, although I think the weather over the last few days probably hasn’t helped. I’ve rested and not done much this week, so it was nice to get out for a few hours and enjoy some fresh air.

It was also nice to see a few friends there and have a good catch-up.

A decent few hours of chilling and relaxing on Sunday morning, followed by a very busy late afternoon out with the camera.

I popped over to grab some photos at the cricket club as part of the celebrations for the bowls club’s centenary, marking 100 years from 1926 to 2026. More on that in another post, along with the photos, once I’ve emailed them over to Ian.

It was then onto the second part of a photoshoot for Scream, the short horror film. 🎬

I’ve always loved a challenge, and night-time photography is certainly one of them. It gives you so much more creativity with slower shutter speeds, ghost effects and intentional motion blur. All of these were shot handheld, with no tripod, which makes it even more challenging.

📍 Barton-upon-Humber — Scream Horror Short Film 🎬

Fun fact: I’m not exactly a fan of horror films! 😅😅

I was messaged yesterday by Brinley, who’s directing a short horror film in a few locations around Barton. It’s all a bit of fun, with the aim of getting the local community involved as much as possible.

He asked if I’d like to grab some photos while they were out shooting, and this was a new one for me! I was more than happy to pop along.

I absolutely love seeing the process behind these things, and it was a great few hours taking photos, chatting with some of the people involved, and getting a little behind-the-scenes glimpse of the filming process.

All the photos are in black and white, of course, with a little added grain to give them that authentic feel.

A few phone photos I took last week when we were in Hull. I always love having a wander around Hull and taking in all the amazing old buildings and architecture.

It was also great to finally see Hull Maritime Museum open! I’ll definitely be heading back for a proper look around, as it was understandably super busy being the first week of opening.

I also loved visiting the newly accessible dome area and taking in the fantastic views across the city.

📍 Baysgarth Park — Baysgarth House Museum

First port of call today was a little mini photo shoot for Haggis and his brother and sister, Jaskier (Polish for Buttercup) and little Iris.

You’ve all seen plenty of photos of Haggis that I’ve taken, but I was chatting with Chris recently and he mentioned that he’d always wanted some photos of all three of them together. So, I said, “Give us a message when they’re all together and we’ll pop over to the park and grab some photos.”

Easier said than done, haha! 😂 But we finally managed it, and we got some absolutely lovely photos of the three of them together.

As an added bonus, the Scunthorpe Concert Band were setting up to play, so after the photos i grabbed a sorbet, chilled for a little while and then enjoyed listening to the brass band for an hour or so. 🎺

A lovely Sunday afternoon all round! 😊

📍 Baysgarth Park — Baysgarth House Museum

These are my favourite kind of days with the camera.

A last-minute message yesterday asking if I was free to pop along to Baysgarth Park this afternoon and capture some photos of their mam and dad, who are both wheelchair users, enjoying a trip around the park and, of course, an ice cream.

I was absolutely 100% up for it, so we met up and set off for a lovely afternoon together.

It took them about 20 minutes to realise I was already there taking photos while they were walking around!

And you’re never too old to have a play on the tennis court street layout they have there, haha! A pit stop for ice cream and coffee, followed by a walk around the other side of the park and into Chad Varah Garden.

A wonderful few hours spent capturing some beautiful moments and, most importantly, making more lovely memories.
