In Gran Canaria at the moment on a family holiday. Even from a very light polluted bay you can take some long exposure images of the Milky Way on your phone from the beach - it’s up there… you just need to know where to look.

Hello All, you'll have probably noticed that I've fallen off the face of the earth these past 12 months with my Astronomy and giving live talks. I've had a lot of "stuff" going on behind the scenes but I've got some big news coming up in the next few weeks.

Stay tuned :)

Well that was a blast! A great show as part of the Dark Skies Festival in Yorkshire. Big thanks to the Station Inn at for hosting my last show of the season and of course, the audience, who made the night really fun!

We even got lucky with some breaks in the cloud to take a look at Jupiter and the moon in detail. Good to see fellow astronomer Diamond Skies attending too.

Please do tag me in any photos of the evening on Facebook or Instagram!

See you next winter!

Afternoon All... Huge apologies for having to postpone tonight's Skies and Pies show at Brockholes.

I moved rurally to get the best dark skies... however when it snows... it really snows and despite my best efforts I couldn't get down our farm track safely with all my equipment.

Hope to see you next week!

🎅 LOOK OUT FOR SANTA ON CHRISTMAS MORNING! 🦌 🦌 🦌

Santa can be spotted over the UK travelling home towards Lapland after a hard night's graft on Christmas morning.

Not to be confused with the International Space Station, Santa's sleigh will appear as a bright star travelling at speed across the sky from West to East.

Look towards the South West around 07:27 GMT; it will take his reindeer about 4 minutes to pull his sleigh across the sky before they fade into the Sunrise. Look out for Venus, too!

Clear skies! And Have a Merry Christmas!

Fingers crossed for some clear skies!
