🏛️ Portavoe Water Tower

🔧 Function
The tower was built to maintain adequate water pressure for the surrounding rural area, serving as part of the wider Portavoe water‑supply system.

🏷️ Status
It is recognised as a listed building, reflecting its architectural and industrial heritage value. The nearby Portavoe Reservoir, once part of the same supply network, fell out of use during the 1990s, leaving the tower as the surviving landmark of the original system.

📍 Location
The tower stands on a low hill overlooking Portavoe beach/bay on the Warren road between Bangor and Donaghadee, giving it a prominent silhouette in the landscape. Its elevated position was intentional — height improves gravitational water pressure.
