I was there the day they said “I do” 💍 … and now I get to be here as they welcome their newest addition 👶💛

Honestly, it’s the biggest compliment when friends ask me to be their photographer. It means the world that they trust me to capture such important chapters in their story.

Not gonna lie though… I do get a little more nervous when it’s friends in front of my camera 🙈 (because chances are I’ll see them at the next coffee catch up, gym or school run!).

But the nerves quickly fade into gratitude. Being able to witness these milestones — from vows to newborn cuddles — is such an honour, and one of my favourite parts of this job.

One of my favourite props to use in newborn sessions is a simple wooden bowl.

Parents love it because it really shows just how small their baby is in those first precious weeks — and it creates a timeless, natural look that will never go out of style.

The bowl is carefully padded, baby is always supported, and safety is my top priority in every setup. 💛

One of the first questions I’m asked before a newborn session is: “What if my baby doesn’t sleep?” 💭

The truth? It’s absolutely fine. 💛

While those sleepy, curled-up photos are beautiful, awake photos are just as special — tiny eyes taking everything in, curious stares, even little stretches and yawns.

Every baby is different, and I work at their pace. There’s no rush, no pressure, and plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, and breaks.

Whether your little one sleeps soundly or wants to stay wide-eyed, we’ll capture images you’ll treasure forever.

Wondering if you should bring siblings along to your newborn session? The answer is yes! 💛

I always recommend siblings join us for the first 30 minutes — this way, they can be part of those precious first family portraits, then head off to play while I focus on your newborn.

Depending on their age, it can sometimes be hit or miss (toddlers, I’m looking at you 😉), but don’t worry — I have lots of tips and tricks up my sleeve to help them feel relaxed and excited to join in.

These images often become some of the most treasured — seeing big brother or sister cuddling, kissing, or simply sitting proudly beside their new baby is priceless.
