Bucket list ~ Glen Etive Mor Waterfall, Scotland.

A lovely 5:30 a.m. wake-up call for Sally in the middle of our winter holiday felt like my version of a Christmas present. After a two-hour drive from Glasgow in the dark, we arrived just as the sun began to rise and a light snowfall dusted the landscape. We were greeted by some of the most breathtaking scenery we’d ever seen. More to come 👍

Continuing with the neutral/B&W theme. Which is your favourite?

I love these shots, but they’ll always remind me of when my freshly bought car’s exhaust pipe exploded—so we spent the rest of the trip cruising around Scotland in a piece of s**t that roared like a sports car. Will be back next week with some colour.

Pyramid Rock, Phillip Island.

Located on the south coast of Phillip Island, this view is a short walk from the car park 👍 The rock formation looks much better at high tide (in my opinion), so check the tide times.

Back to some colour.

The Pinnacles is undoubtedly one of the most breathtaking spots on Phillip Island, but you’ll need to walk a few kilometres from the car park to reach it. I definitely recommend taking a jacket, snacks and water + a torch (especially in winter).

More waterfalls 💦💦

Despite not getting to see many sunrises or sunsets in the UK winter, the one positive is that the waterfalls are absolutely pumping 👌

Discovering the Lakes’ most accessible waterfall, just a short 200m stroll from the roadside, plus a free car park (a rarity to find in the UK)! Countless vantage points offer breathtaking views. Can’t decide on the favorite – 1 or 2?

My first visit to the breathtaking Lake District 🏞️

Look closely to see the people 👀

Despite my initial plan to focus on landscapes, these three images unintentionally evolved into a compelling series, encapsulating the essence of the day as I lived it. Battling relentless rain and gusty 50mph winds proved challenging for both photography and hiking, yet Sally and I persevered, reaching the summit just as the day broke – though the elusive sun remained hidden. 🌧️💨

Another fantastic (but cold) morning in Oxford, where the prospect of captivating sunrises remains somewhat unpredictable due to the city’s location in the Thames Valley. Nevertheless, the historical features of Oxford’s architectural wonders and, in this instance, the picturesque presence of the Port Meadow cows, ensured that I had another beautiful scene to photography. While I’ve recently dabbled in street photography, there’s an undeniable satisfaction in capturing landscapes and symmetrical scenes.

One particular mantra has firmly taken root in my mind as I’ve scoured through countless hours of YouTube photography vlogs: the importance of relishing moments outdoors and pursuing one’s passion, rather than fixating solely on the quest for a spectacular image suitable for a portfolio on every expedition. Stay safe out there.

What a sunrise! I wasn’t convinced that late sunrises and early sunsets were ever going to be my thing but I guess they do have benefits in some circumstances. I was up at 5.30 and already a few hours into WFH, when I saw a hint of colour on the horizon, prompting a mad dash for my camera and a suitable location. This impromptu snap was a stark contrast to my previous early morning sunrise adventure, which got swallowed with fog (swipe left).
