Steph & Rory’s Wedding Day.🌾✨

Surrounded by family, friends, they said their vows in a field, seated on hay bales(my favourite form of seating). What followed was a celebration full of laughter, music, dancing, and the kind of joy that only comes from having all your favourite people in one place.

A beautiful reminder that the best weddings are the ones that feel truly, unapologetically you.

Congratulations, Steph & Rory 🤍

📷Photography Walks for Beginners 🌿

I'm exploring the idea of offering relaxed 1-to-1 photography walks across Dumfries & Galloway and would love to know if it's something people would be interested in.

These sessions would be designed for complete beginners and anyone who has a camera (or smartphone!) but isn't quite sure how to get the most out of it.

Rather than sitting in a classroom, we'd learn by walking, observing, and photographing the beautiful landscapes around us. Together we'd cover things like:

• Understanding your camera or smartphone
• Light and composition
• Building confidence behind the lens
• Learning to spot great photographs
• Simple visual storytelling

The idea is to create a relaxed, supportive environment where you can learn at your own pace and enjoy being outdoors.

Sessions would be available around Dalbeattie, Castle Douglas, Auchencairn, Kirkcudbright and surrounding areas.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, please leave a comment, or send me a message. I'd love to hear your thoughts and what you'd like to learn.

📷 Camera or smartphone welcome
🌿 Complete beginners encouraged

Stories move us, connect us, and remind us of the people and places that shape our communities.✨

A few frames from a wonderful event as part of the Wild Goose Festival, connected to the Moving Stories project. It was a privilege to document this event!📸🥾

We made a real push to improve our accessibility at this year's Spring Gathering. We particularly want to thank Accessibility Auditor, Leanne Bradwick from DG Voice, and our BSL Interpreter, Hamish Denerley.

Photographed is our Director, Karen Ward Boyd, giving the closing speech with Hamish in the background.

In Her Hands✨

For this project, I wanted to add something new to the way I tell stories. I’ve always loved capturing people through photography, but I felt drawn to explore short-form film as a way to tell these stories on a deeper level.

Through movement, sound, conversation and the small details in between, these films are a way of documenting creative women in their element. Showing the passion, process and personality behind what they do.

The first story in In Her Hands follows Lucy and the world she has created through floristry. A space filled with creativity, colour and care.💐

Introducing In Her Hands,a storytelling project celebrating creative women across Dumfries & Galloway.📸

Through photography and short-form film, this project will explores the women who create, build and shape things with their hands such as artists, makers, florists, photographers, craftspeople and business owners. With each of them having a story worth telling.

The first story follows Lucy Milligan, a woman balancing two creative businesses of her own. From working as a florist to creating detailed nail art, her days are built around creativity, care and craftsmanship.

These images capture small moments behind the scenes such as, the hands at work, the process, the passion and the personality behind what she creates.

In Her Hands is about celebrating women who make space for creativity in everyday life and showing the value of creative work within our communities.

If you’re a creative woman based in D&G and would be interested in being part of the project, I’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch 🤍
