Great day at European Athletics Championships Birmingham 2026 yesterday. Very hot but nice to see all the 200M ladies get through to the final, as well as medals i the 400M and 400 Hurdles. There is a strict lens/camera restriction at these events, so a chance to play around to get some different shots with slow shutter etc. And an eclipse as well to play with, which gave a strange effect as it went behind the cloud.

After making the British Wildlife photographer of the year finalist book earlier this year, I have just found out that my Fulmar image has made the finalist book of the Bird Photographer of the Year! I got the shot on a quick 3 hour visit to Bempton Cliffs, RSPB Nature Reserve last year whilst on the way to Scarborough for the bike races. I noticed the Fulmar soaring around with all the Gannets, and liked how long its wingspan was, and a slightly different angle looking down on it with the jade coloured sea in the background. Nice trip to Skomer island last week, 52,000 Puffins there at the moment feeding young. Amazing spectacle as you watch them bringing in beak fulls of sand eels. Also saw short eared owl, skylark and Guillemot.
