Some shots from Isle of Man TT 2026. I was helping a sidecar team, but they cancelled that race after a couple of crashes, so managed to get out on the course and get some photos. Isle of Man TT Races John McGuinness

I am just back from a trip to a new country to me , India, on a Wild Aperture photography tour. The tour was based around the big cats in India, Bengal Tigers and Leopards, and was centred on two game reserves, Ranthambore and Jhalana, both places south of Delhi. There were nine photograp...

And next after a 4 hour drive to the city of Jaipur, we spent 4 days at Jhalana Leopard Conservation Reserve A lovely reserve with quite thick vegetation on the edge of the city, where it is possible to see Leopards, Hyena and lots of other stuff in their natural environment. Like Ranthambore, difficult photography, and guides don't have radios so it is about listening for alarm calls etc to see what cats are about. Once you get an idea of the direction a cat may be, the driver drive the jeep flat out on the bumpy roads to get to the spot to see if anything around! It is hard just to hold onto your camera gear as well as support yourself, but if you see a Leopard when you get there it is worth it. Saw a mum and 3 cubs, with the male being adventurous up trees etc. Also saw the rare sight of a stryped Hyena one morning, a well as Bee eaters and other mammals. And Wild Aperture guide Bali took us on an excursion into Jaipur pink city one afternoon which made a nice change to see some local culture (and experience the local (no rules) driving first hand!!)

Just back from a fantastic trip to India with Wild Aperture and a nice group of 8 other photographers, where we visited Ranthambore National Park and Jhalana Leopard reserve on the outskirts of the city Jaipur. We had 11 game drives at Ranthambhor, which is like a real life jungle book, and here is the first photo drop of a few of the different species and Tigers we saw. Tigers very hard to photograph as they appear and disappear quite quickly, and the safari jeeps bump up and down at speed once the guides spot tracks, so holding on to camera gear tricky as well! Glad i had the Canon 100-300 f 2.8 lens with a couple of extenders, as the distance to subject changes a lot so being able to zoom in or out was a big help. We managed to see Tigers on 80% of our drives, which is very good and a credit to Tracey and Bali for organising top guides. Some sightings were fleeting glimpses, and on other occasions we got to see a mum and year old cubs, and one on a hunt. Also it was great to see the rare sight of a Sloth Bear with 2 cubs. I'll do a seperate post on the leopards once images edited, but here are some from the 42 degree heat of Ranthambhor! Big thanks to Tracey, Bali and Marie .

First trip of the year over to Rutland and River Gwash Ospreys yesterday morning. Great to see the Ospreys returning again, and a red kite as well! Pleased I had the Canon 100-300 f2.8 lens as light was bad to start with. Also a grey wagtail collecting food for its young.

Spent a great couple of days near leeds at Leeds Wildlife Photography Hides waiting around for a Sparowhawk. Ian has a nice place there and has put a lot of work into attracting Sparrowhawk and kestrel, as well as a lot of garden birds, and a pair of ducks as well! Great company with Jez Wood to pass the time, and the male sparrow hawk didn't disappoint with a few quick visits, and the female kestrel came by as well and surprisingly attacked the sparrow hawk making it move away!
