Ensuring your food looks effortlessly delicious, vibrant and begged to be eaten depends on a few key factors…..
📷 Light is key. Don’t use flash use natural light (or a studio light)
📷 Buy a cheap tripod or put your camera/phone on a pile of books or a wall – every ingredient in the dish needs to be sharp.
📷 Think of what crockery your dish is served in/on – too big and it dwarfs the dish and makes it look like a tiny portion, too small the dish has to be squeezed on to fit it in the image.
📷 Ensure the food looks the right colour, or it can look congealed and unappetising
📷 Wipe up any spills so the plate looks clean
📷 Think of the colour of your crockery, cutlery, table, tablecloth, napkin – if it clashes it draws the eyes away from the hero of the shot. The hero being your masterpiece.
📷 Ensure there is no clutter in your photo, a clean shot draws the eyes to what you want your viewers to see.
To illustrate this, I am showing you a Beetroot & falafel wrap – with spinach, avocado, roasted butternut squash, hummus and harissa veganaise.
