One thing that everyone said when they came in to see the studio, was regarding natural light. The space can be used in so many ways, and even if you prefer artificial light, I guarantee you will be tempted to try and play with the natural light.

Self portrait in the woods, and the 3 stages on the image.
Edited version ( for whatever reason I wanted a dark moody feel to this one)
Second one is the first edit where I was considering if I should go dark and moody
Last one is the original image.- Taken with Canon 80d and 24mm stm lens 🫶

Hidden in plain sight, there’s a story in those eyes that reflects through the puddles in the woods, that you can hear in the wind, that the leaves are telling you just from their rustle.
In the quiet of the woods, find the strength to look inwards and listen to yourself.
Stand tall like the trees and grounded and know when to let your leaves fall.
Create for the love of the creation not for those around you.

There’s a lot of work going on in the background to get everything ready for the open day at the studio, and unfortunately is not glamorous work, so that’s why the socials are a bit quiet.

Walking barefoot on the beach, is just you, the sea and the wind.
The sand is slowly moving beneath your feet as your feet are touching the ground.
You can smell and feel the saltiness of the sea in the air. Your skin will soon get impregnated with the scent…
You get closer to the water, the sand is getting colder and wet underneath your feet.
You wait. You watch and wait as the waves get closer and closer. You can’t predict which one will get to you first, and you wait…seagulls flying above you
It’s here. The wave reached your feet, bringing along tiny seashells and algae….
You remain immobile
All you can hear is the wind and the sea…

Spring must be on its way… as yesterday I’ve done what I do every spring. Grab a camera, a macro lens and head out searching for flowers.
I was surprised to see this wild cherry tree (i believe) in full bloom, and even with some of the flowers already on the ground, and just as ai was photographing it, I got a notification that another freezing front is on its way at the end of February…

One thing I absolutely love about this space at is that you can make great use of natural light🔥
The space can be so versatile for any photographer and you can either take advantage of the generous space and have lights dotted around your subject, or make use of the natural light coming through the windows.
You get a particularly special light in the evenings when the sun is setting, but you have to be quick!

Studio Details Update:

First of all I want to say a massive thank you for the support I have been shown when I announced the Studio opening. I am overwhelmed and grateful for everyone that sent a message, for the friends that have shared the news and those that have helped and are currently helping me behind the scenes to get it up and running.

As a general Idea, the studio will offer the option to be hired as is, or with the use of a few lights. The space is very large and the creativity options in there are endless ( i didn’t want to leave it after the last visit).

Apart from Studio Hire, there will be some workshops as well as photography talks or photo related events, so If anyone wants to get involved with that - please send me a message or an email and we will get something planned.

There will be an open day or two where people will be able to come down and visit so they can have an idea of what the space looks like and so on, and I will announce those dates in the next couple of weeks, so please be patient as I try to get everything planned.

Ultimately the plan is that the space will be open towards the end of February for bookings, and the waiting list is already growing so get in touch.
