Over the next few months I will be posting some of the photos from a few months of exploring my home country. This shot was taken at the exquisite Gardens of Arundel Castle. This was my third trip to the town and my clear favourite as I did a lot more exploring this time around.

The only window

For soldiers stationed in the Grand Shaft, a slim caged window of the shaft's interior was their only view.

The Western Heights of Dover are one of the most
impressive fortifications in Britain. They comprise a
series of forts, strong points and ditches, designed to
protect the country from invasion.

An Eastern Hognose snake slithers into the dead leaves. I always found that snakes in North America just wanted to be left alone, and given a few minutes would move away. Australian snakes seem to be more up for a confrontation though.
