Recently I visited Thessaloniki in Greece, and I was amazed by its beauty and history. These are some of the images from the trip through the old part of the city with its narrow-cobbled streets, traditional houses, ancient walls, and the Byzantine churches. I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere with men at ease with themselves and the wonderful view of the city from the top of the hill. Family-owned shops also preserve the atmosphere of earlier generations.

Some images of the young women and girls showing their skills at Appleby. Horsemanship is often a source of pride within Romani Gypsy and Traveller families, and many young riders grow up around horses from an early age, learning to ride and care for them as part of their cultural heritage.
These images of horse women (Amazons) were inspired by the archetype of the "Gypsy woman on horseback" - a romanticized and recurring theme in vintage photography. These portrayals often depict a woman riding ba****ck or using a traditional saddle.

Secong series of images was taken at the 2023 Appleby Horse Fair, the UK's largest annual gathering of Gypsies and Travellers. While many attend to buy and sell horses, the fair is also a major social occasion, bringing together families and friends to meet, celebrate, and reconnect with their community. The event offers a unique insight into a rich cultural heritage and is steeped in longstanding traditions.

One of the fair's spectacles is the practice of "flashing" horses, where riders trot their animals at speed through the narrow streets to demonstrate their quality and performance. Riders of all ages, from young children to older generations, can be seen racing through the town on horseback or in traditional horse-drawn buggies.

Many horses are also taken to the Sands, a riverside area near the centre of Appleby, where they are washed in the river. This provides an opportunity for young riders to showcase their horsemanship and riding skills, creating some of the fair's most memorable and visually striking scenes.

Last in the series of life on the Beaches of Goa. Captured a couple of months ago during a short project documenting the lives of fishermen along the Goan coast, these images focus on the migrant workers who travel from states such as Chhattisgarh and Odisha in search of a livelihood. Their days begin before sunrise — loading fishing nets, preparing the boats according to the tides, and returning later to unload the catch when the boats come back with the catch.

Most of the boats are owned by businessmen from nearby towns, while local fishermen venture out to sea almost daily. Behind every catch is the labour of these migrants.
