Try this to do list - swipe ✨

I used to share a big long list of what I was going to achieve in a day. I told myself it was my accountability partner if I shared it on here. But I think it was probably a hangover from being employed and having someone micro manage me, wanting to make sure I checked things off from my day instead of trusting that I can prioritise my own work.

Today I’m tired, but I still have to work, and I still have three children. So how can I do it? Do I push through sharing photos of coffee and wearing my eye bags as the must have mum accessory? Or do I prioritise the work that really has to be done then rest (when I can) so that when I have to mum I’m a better mum. Not one powered by caffeine and sugar.

I’m not a pro at doing this, but I am starting to try and fit this time in more, time when I recharge.

ad Do you find getting ready to leave the house takes so much longer in the Autumn?

I find getting two little boys ready for the autumn/winter weather is so much harder than when we used to just run out the door with our flipflops and sunglasses.

I’ve had a faff in the hall and got it ready for autumn complete with new rain coats for the boys. We shopped at because they have always been our go to retailer for quality and value. And now they stock brands too. So we chose some fun fox coats from the Joules range at M&S and the boys are thrilled.

Firstly as small business owners, or for anyone who’s job circles around social media marketing, we were all feeling the ‘what if it never comes back vibes’ right? Like actually what if?

Then it gets you thinking about the wider implications of so much work just disappearing in an instant. Which serves as a good reminder to have a blog, website and a newsletter. Because you own all of that. It’s yours and no one can cancel that over night

But lastly, we found it refreshing didn’t we? To not have our phones on for a few extra hours. Or were you jumping on the twitter bandwagon because you just needed your fix?

It’s been a week where I have questioned everything that do 🤪

I found myself accidentally on a gossip website that seemingly just serves to rip apart influencers/creators/bloggers etc.

What an awful place. But the way I see it, the universe was probably trying to show me something by having me end up there. Because instead of letting it rock my entire existence on here it’s fuelled me. Those people (or insert expletives of your choice) have no idea how amazing the community is on here.

Those people Have no idea how it gives so many people the opportunity to work around their families, to have escapism, to be creative. To follow a new path, to inspire others, to teach and share what they know so others can earn and create in a new way.

I will expand in this in my latest newsletter, going out tomorrow, sign up link in my bio if you fancy it. But whatever you do don’t go to that gossip site.

That was a fun Monday morning, storms, fuel shortages, phonics folders to remember (fml) gone are those long endless days of lockdown 1, 2 & 3.

But routine is healthy right? Are you a routine lover or are you more of a fly by the seat of your pants type?

WFH the weekend edition ✨

Grabbing myself a little time block this morning with my little helper. Have you ever worked in time blocks before? I find them so useful for getting stuff done. I’ve talked about these before on stories. Simple version, put a timer on 5, 10, 15 minutes and focus on one task. I use them for work and housework! Keeps me from getting distracted which can happen a lot (creative brains are often very easily distracted!)

Works great for creative work too. I wanted to take a couple of photos this morning as the light was nice. So I hit the timer and got a little candid shot with Marlow.

School run is crazy! We are three days into his settling in week and it’s been fun fun fun 🥴

Otis is the only one who is breezing it, the rest of us are a frazzled mess after it.

Sending all my love to the school started this week, I know it can be hard! And the work/life/mum/school juggle is real so be ultra kind to yourself this week 😘

This month always signals new beginning but I kind of love September for it’s unapologetic last hoorah of the summer.

1. You were almost called Rocky or Jasper
2. The name Wylder wasn’t even on the list
3. You were born at home on our old grey sofa
4. You were my most painful birth
5. I was watching Spider Man Homecoming most of your labour
6. You have huge feet
7. We hold hands while you sleep at night
8. You smile when you hear your brothers coming
9. You have blue eyes like Otis
10. And curly hair like Marlow (I think!)
11. I thought you would be my last baby
12. But you make me want to have another one. You are my dream boat

How is this the last weekend of the summer?

And How is it that my summer baby is almost 12 weeks old? The summer seems like a blink and you miss it summer. Good job I took approximately 1375 photos of the kids!

Yesterday we went to some sunflower fields, so we are really ticking off the summer bucket list. I will pop some piccys up on stories, but getting pictures of the kids was a lot harder than I thought it would be in a field of sunflowers 😅
