Andrew Macdonald Photography Photograher and cinematograoher I’m a wildlife photographer and videographer based in Cape Town, originally from Scotland.

For the last nine years I’ve travelled across Africa capturing the stories of luxury safari lodges, conservation projects and the people who protect these wild places. My work has taken me from the jungles of Congo to the South Pole in Antarctica, creating films and imagery for leading brands and conservation agencies throughout Africa. I also host photographic safaris across the continent, guidin

g guests through some of the best wildlife destinations while teaching practical photography skills and the full creative workflow behind my images and videos. Most of my shoots are done with my fiancée Sarah, who brings her eye for stills while I focus more on video. Together we aim to produce visuals with real emotion, real stories and a genuine connection to the wild places we visit. If wildlife, travel and behind-the-scenes stories from safari are your thing, you’ll feel right at home here. Join one of my upcoming safaris here:

Our new film from Malawi is now live! 🇲🇼

Earlier this year, Sarah and I spent 10 days exploring Liwonde National Park while filming and photographing for African Parks and Liwonde National Park.

From beautiful landscapes and wildlife along the Shire River to anti-poaching operations, community conservation projects, chilli farming initiatives and even the collaring of a wild lion, this trip gave us an incredible look at what makes Liwonde such a special place.

It was our first time experiencing Malawi as a safari destination, and we went there asking one simple question...

NEW VIDEO | Deep in the Congo

Last year, Sarah and I spent 10 unforgettable days filming and photographing in Odzala-Kokoua National Park in the Republic of the Congo.

From searching for elusive forest elephants and trekking deep into the rainforest for western lowland gorillas, to exploring remote rivers in search of slender-snouted crocodiles, this was without doubt one of the wildest and most challenging places we've ever had the privilege to work.

Most people only ever see the finished films and photographs, but this behind the scenes video shows the reality of what goes into creating them. The early mornings, tropical downpours, long days in the field and the unpredictable moments that make working in places like this so special.

We were on location creating content for Odzala-Kokoua National Park and African Parks and this was one adventure we won't forget anytime soon.

Deep in the Republic of Congo lies one of Africa's wildest and most...

Did you see last week's video yet??

It's probably my most immersive behind the scenes video so far.

I would love to know what you think.

If you have ever wondered what it's actually like on safari or what work goes into getting the shots I get then you will really enjoy this one.

A few moments from my visit to the Kalahari Desert.

It was actually quite surprising to experience it in the green season. The landscape was lush, vibrant and full of life, offering a completely different perspective on this remarkable part of Botswana.

A fantastic few days exploring the Kalahari and enjoying some beautiful sightings along the way with Ker & Downey Botswana

NEW VIDEO | The Hunt

The final chapter of our Busanga Plains adventure is now live.
Last year, Sarah and I spent time in Kafue National Park, Zambia, creating content for African Parks and Wilderness.

Over the course of a week, we followed one of Busanga's lion prides through some incredible sightings, dramatic moments and unforgettable encounters.

This final episode brings the series to a close as we witness one of the most intense moments of the trip and a powerful reminder of the realities of life on the floodplains.

I hope you've enjoyed following the journey through one of Africa's greatest wilderness areas.
