St. Patrick's grave at Down Cathedral.
Built on the site of a monastery dating from the 12th century.
The large stone was placed as protection over the burial site as many pilgrims and emigrants scooped earth from the site to bless them on their journey.
Many believe that Ireland's three iconic saints may rest at this spot on Cathedral Hill.
" In Down, three saints one grave do fill, Patrick, Brigid and Colmcille"

It's the end of an era for Sixmilecross and the wider community with the passing of Neil McGarvey. Neil was a work colleague and friend of my dear Mum in the Co-Op for 30 odd years.
The Co-Op was more than a shop, it was a social hub, a community centre and I have fantastic memories of it from my childhood and youth.
The same could be said of Sixmilecross Hardware Store when Neil set up across the road. People were in less of a rush; chat and banter was as important as any purchase.
One day in August 2016 I called to see Neil and we spent an hour or so reminiscing about days gone by.
Sixmilecross is a lesser place for his passing.
