Dave Kitson Photography

Dave Kitson Photography I'm a UK based photographer and I love visiting familiar locations and finding unfamiliar scenes I love water, be that seascapes, waves, waterfalls or rivers.

I’m a photographer based in the North West of England, with a passion for landscape photography

I’ve also been into capturing the beautiful world around me, ever since I was given a free instant kids camera when I was very small. In the last few years I’ve had a couple of opportunities where I’ve been able to upgrade my camera gear which coincided with my photography skill levelling up. The most

recent of those opportunities has now enabled me to take my passion for photography, learning and teaching to a professional level. With this move, I’ll be sharing my experience, passion and knowledge to help you improve your photography, or to experience areas of the world which you love and/or would love to visit through my photos and my workshops. I love the motion and the emotion that the energy portrays. I love mountains, and the feeling of freedom that being in those vast spaces give me. I love lighthouses. I love their history and importance, their interaction with the coasts around them, and the romantic sense of mystery that they hold. I love photographing people, looking for those moments in between, the reveries, the moments where ‘you’ exist.

T R A N S I T I O N

I love this point right at the end of sunset where the colours handover to the blue of the night sky.
I don't know what causes these colours, but I've seen it a few times, and I just enjoy the light show as it happens - and get a few photos.

I'll share the sunset colours tomorrow. look out for bright pinks and blues in that one.

I've come back to image to see how well Lightroom's AI Denoise works. And it works extremely well.
To get the beams I was limited to a 5 second shutter speed, which meant bumping the ISO up to 5000.
With the denoise applied at 75% the image is super clean now.

The 2nd and 3rd images are zoomed into the lighthouse to show the before and after of the denoise tool.

The clouds were just touching the mountain tops in Snowdonia and the wind was nowhere to be seen.

I was able to get a few panos of the mountains and the light was constantly shifting as the clouds drifted across sky, changing the light across the peaks.

I pulled in at Nefyn for a pit stop on the way back from St Tudwals Lighthouse and this is the view along the north coast of the Lyn Peninsula.

This stretch is dominated by the steep cliffs and long beaches, all the way to the Menai Strait.

While it was a sunny day, the heavy clouds cast a blue hue across the areas in their shadows, including the peak of Gyrn Ddu.

This is probably my favourite sunrise from last year.

While photographing Enlli Lighthouse from Mynydd Mawr, this epic sunrise happened behind me.

It was that low cloud over Cardigan Bay trapping the light and setting all of the peninsulas on fire which I loved.

Grabbing my 400mm lens I was able to get right into the sharp rays slicing down the slopes of Allt-lwyd in the south Snowdonia.

St Tuwals Lighthouse

With an early morning hike out from Bwlchtocyn to the cliffs overlooking St Tudwals West and the similarly named lighthouse, I sat and watched this gorgeous sunrise over the Cardigan and Tremadog Bays.

The red and white lights shining from the lamp room reflect the sun's early morning glow beautifully.

It was a beautiful sunrise at St Tudwal’s West Lighthouse.

A Waterfall of Moss

With a constant stream of fresh water pouring down this cliff face, a long carpeted flow of moss is growing on this shelf.
