I've been a full-time photographer since 2005 building a successful business in Edinburgh before moving to the beautiful north Northumberland coast where I am currently based. My studio is in Embleton, Northumberland and it's open By Appointment

One of my favourite photographs from many visits to Madeira.

I have countless beautiful ‘misty mountains’ photographs but this one is different.

It captures a moment and a feeling and I remember exactly how I felt at the time.

The rain was soft and warm like a shower, I was full of the cold and wandered around Funchal on my own.

This photo captures that feeling of being an observer - somehow separated from the rest of the world being self-absorbed in my sniffles.

Unlike home, where rain turns everything grey, the streets here shone brightly and the colours were still vivid and doubled up in their reflections.

I like the couple; close under their umbrella and still in their summer clothes stubbornly refusing to let a bit of rain spoil their holiday and their togetherness.

My eyes were drawn away from Dunstanburgh Castle to the patterns & colours of the turning ferns.

This is sunrise season, my favourite season. Beautiful skies at a reasonable time and still some wildflowers left over from the fading summer.
