Soul of Alba creates fine art Scottish landscape and architectural photography prints, professionally printed in Scotland and inspired by heritage, atmosphere and place. From Highland scenery and historic castles to iconic urban landmarks, each image is created to preserve atmosphere, authenticity and a strong sense of place. Photography is approached with patience and restraint — seeking natural

light, balance and clarity rather than exaggeration. Every piece is carefully refined in post-production to shape tonal depth and harmony while maintaining the integrity of the original scene.

The Clachan Inn, Drymen

I’ve always had a soft spot for places like this. Right in the heart of Drymen, the Clachan Inn is also Scotland’s oldest licensed pub, with all the character and charm of a traditional Scottish village inn.

I loved the whitewashed walls, flowers at the windows and the sense of history in every corner. Sometimes it’s these simple, familiar scenes that make the photographs I enjoy most. 📸

Strathaven from above

A collection of views taken from Strathaven Cemetery as the light constantly changed across the town and surrounding countryside.

Dark, heavy clouds one moment, then shafts of sunlight breaking through and lighting up the rooftops and fields the next. I particularly love how the light picks out little pockets of the landscape while everything around them remains beneath the gathering clouds.

Sometimes it pays to simply stay in one place, watch the sky and wait for the light.

Toward Castle

There’s a real sadness in this place, and I wanted the photograph to reflect that.

These ruins are tied to one of the darkest chapters in Cowal’s history. In 1646, following conflict between the clans, Campbell forces killed many members of Clan Lamont in events remembered as the Dunoon Massacre.

Looking at Toward Castle today, slowly crumbling and being reclaimed by nature, it’s difficult not to think about the lives, fear and loss behind these old stones.

For me, the touches of red against the almost monochrome image seemed fitting — a reminder that some places carry much more than their beauty.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Mount Stuart House, Isle of Bute

The magnificent Mount Stuart House, surrounded by beautiful gardens on the Isle of Bute.

With its striking red sandstone, Gothic architecture and incredible detailing, it’s a building that certainly makes an impression. A spectacular piece of Scottish architecture in an equally beautiful setting.

With its beautiful stonework, distinctive spire and historic graveyard, it’s a wonderfully atmospheric spot in the heart of Luss. 📸🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Ben Lomond in the evening light

Golden light catching the slopes of Ben Lomond, rising above the calm waters of Loch Lomond. There’s something special about those moments when the last light of the day transforms the landscape.

A classic Scottish view that never gets old.

A grand old lady at Kilcreggan Pier

The historic paddle steamer Waverley calling at Kilcreggan Pier, enjoying a classic trip on the water.

There’s something special about seeing her approach the pier, funnels standing proud against that big Scottish sky. A scene that feels almost timeless.

Having a little fun with a mirror at Dunrobin Castle — creating a reflection where there wasn’t one. 📸
