Caught this view just as the clouds started to lift and the light broke through at the Quiraing on the Isle of Skye.
Moments like this don't last long, which is what makes them so special.

This year, I set myself a mission — to capture a really decent aurora image.
What I learned more than anything is how much patience it takes. Long nights, standing in the cold, watching the sky through mist and cloud, wondering if anything will happen at all.
Sometimes waiting for hours with nothing… and then, just when you least expect it, the sky comes alive.
These are some of my best images from this year at Talacre. Each one is a reminder that it’s not just about the shot — it’s about the waiting, the quiet moments, and being there when it finally happens.

Most of my time on Skye ended up being spent at the Quiraing... and honestly, I couldn't think of a better place to lose track of time.

Wandering these ridges, watching the weather move across the landscape and just taking it all in.
I keep going back to the Quiraing every year, and somehow it never gets old. Different weather, different light, different moods - but it's always just as incredible.

• HOUSE OF THE RISING MIST

• Ychydig o foreau cynnar, ambell gamgymeriad, a mwy nag un "efallai yfory"... ond gwnaeth y bore yma yn Glen Coe i bopeth wneud synnwyr.

• A handful of early alarms, a few false starts, and more than one "maybe tomorrow".
But this morning in Glencoe made it all worthwhile. Probably my favourite image of the trip.

Started the morning at the Quiraing on the Isle of Skye, I somehow managed to walk pass the tree that I’ve been drawn to at every visit, driving rain - cold, soaked, questioning the plan.

Then the clouds tore open and the whole landscape lit up in gold.
Storms make the best light.

| look forward to visiting the magical Ynys Llanddwyn again this year, it's a place that motivates me to get out under the night sky and once you've visited it keeps pulling you back year after year.

A week on Friday I'll be visiting the Isle of Skye again, my favourite time of year to visit, we are on the edge of winter and turning toward spring, which hopefully means catching those dramatic skies, crisp air and the kind of light photographers dream about.

Visually striking this lone tree on the Quiraing is one of those subjects in landscape photography that feels both iconic and deeply personal.

The Quiraing is exactly the kind of place that rewards anyone willing to rise before the world wakes and I can't wait.

It’s not been the best weather for landscape photography recently, no light whatsoever when I’ve had the opportunity to get out.

That said it’s been a productive time planning ahead for a couple of weeks on the Isle of Skye end of the month.
