I headed up to the Elan Valley last night to catch the last of the Persieds and the Milky Way. Waking up above the clouds was a real bonus!

Read my thoughts on the Benro UK Rhino Tripods.

Let’s hear what Jim Cossey thinks of the Benro Rhino Tripod 🦏

“Straight away the new Benro Rhino tripods feel really great in the hand. Everything about these tripods has been manufactured to a high standard. From beautiful carbon fibre construction with responsive twist lock legs that are extremely sturdy to the newly designed VX ball heads that have a vice-like grip locking your camera in place.”

One from a recent wedding where the rain just stopped for a few hours to let us get the shot Charles and Victoria were after with the backdrop of the Black Mountains behind them. This had always been a special backdrop for the two of them to come and spend time together at Victoria's family home.

More from this day soon.

*The Road To The Aurora*

Not sure why I woke up and checked my phone just after 1am this morning but I am so glad I did.
The aurora app notification was red and the skies were clear so I headed up on to Llangynidr Mountain.

What a beautiful few hours spent watching the night sky.

For many years now I have wanted to capture Castell y Gwynt in the dawn light covered in snow.
So last Friday I made the last minute decision after looking at the weather to head up to Ogwen Valley and camp up on the Glyderau.
This would be a solo trip and one that started in the dark. With no wind and absolute silence except for the crunching sound of snow underfoot I hiked up to the my camp location. In some places the snow must have been a foot deep it was a little hard going with a heavy pack but it has to have been one of the most enjoyable hikes I've done. Heating up a freeze-dried chicken curry and cracking open a beer whilst just about getting the feeling back into my fingers I thought this Friday night was shaping up to be a pretty good one to be fair. Curry and a beer under a sky full of stars. I'll take that anyday!
The morning came and a cold breeze had picked up but I knew I had to leap out of my tent and be ready for when the light hits these beautiful piles of rock. With only another photographer there who had hiked up earlier that morning it seemed I had the place to myself that night.
The light came and went in what seemed like just a couple of minutes but I finally got the shot I've been after (picture 3) and looking across to Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) in the morning light was stunning.

Seeing the landscape transformed by snow I almost didn't want to come back down.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Our 2023 calendars are arriving through letterboxes today after some postal delays (sorry!) - to celebrate, here's a beauty of shot that's featured in the calendar by of skiing on Pen y Fan!

We're well on our way to raising an epic £700 for our two chosen charities - and Mountain Rescue Wales via the calendar sales. If you'd still like to order one you can do so via our website, or pick one up in .gallery in Brecon 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

The cold nights have returned and so has the dragon's breath filling the valleys here in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The mist meandering through the landscape to the iconic peak of Sugarloaf on the horizon.

It's been a week of early starts as these are still my favourite conditions to shoot in.
