Scenes of relief, exhaustion, joy, hysteria and pure happiness at the finishline of the LLCR today as the 135 mile canal race comes to a close in Leeds.
As the storm passes over and the torrential rain continues there are only four more runners out on the course all looking to finish before the 10pm cutoff.
It may be flat but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Here are a few still from the last aquathlon in Parc Bryn Bach.
750m swim around the island and a 5km run which is two laps of the lake.
It’s currently being used as a refill point for the fire service helicopter in an attempt to put out some of the mountain fires in the valleys.
What an incredible job they’re doing… Let’s hope they get on top of this soon.

I’ve been debating whether to write this because I really don’t want it to come across as bitter or angry. But I’ve seen more and more of my watermarked photographs being shared and, in some cases, being used by businesses and individuals to promote themselves or their services.

So I think it’s important to explain why that matters.

When you see a photograph from race day, it’s easy to think it’s just a picture.

It isn’t.

There’s a lot that goes into creating that image — the early starts, travelling, hours spent out in all weather, finding the right locations, following the race, thousands of pounds worth of camera equipment, and then the hours afterwards selecting, editing, uploading and processing thousands of photographs.

And I love doing it. I really do.

I’m there because I love the sport, the people and the stories. I want to capture those moments when you're flying, suffering, digging deep or simply enjoying being part of something special.

But photography is also my livelihood.

Selling photographs isn't a nice little extra for me. It is my income.

So when a watermarked image is downloaded from a gallery and shared online without being purchased, it might seem like a small thing. But for me, it means the work I’ve put into creating that image has been used without me being paid for it.

And I completely understand the excitement of finding a photograph of yourself. I understand wanting to share it. Honestly, I probably would too.

But please understand that the watermark is there for a reason.

There’s another side to this that I’d also like to mention.

If you are a business, coach, event organiser, athlete, brand or service provider, please don’t use my photographs to promote your business, services, products, events or yourself without permission.

If you see an image you'd like to use commercially, please get in touch with me.

Images can be licensed for commercial use, and I’m more than happy to discuss the options. I'd much rather work with you and give you permission to use the right image in the right way than see my work being used without my knowledge.

And one more thing...

Please do not use my images with AI art or image-generation tools.

My photographs are my work, and I don't give permission for them to be altered, manipulated or used as source material for AI-generated imagery.

There are some wonderful people who support my work by buying their images, and honestly, thank you. Every single purchase means more than you probably realise.

I’m not writing this to have a go at anyone. I’m writing it because behind every photograph is a person who has invested their time, money, energy and passion into making it.

I love photographing you.
I love being part of your races.
I love seeing you enjoy the images.

I just ask that you respect the work behind them too.

If you love the image and want to use it commercially, please contact me.
And if you don't own it, please don't use it.

Thank you for understanding.

Basic instructions for running a 50 miler…
Lace up your daps,
Run for a bit, walk for a bit…
stick your arms in the air and jump over stuff, jump over more stuff and laugh a lot…
Say ‘f**k me this is hard’ alot and when you get to the finish line say ‘ I’m never doing that again’!
Laugh and cry at the same time.
Don’t forget to stop your watch.
Laugh more and sign up for the next one!

Last nights aquathlon was ace!
Hosted by at Parc Bryn Bach, Tredegar on a perfect summers evening the 40 athletes lined up for a 750m swim and a 5km run around the lake.
It was high energy, fast paced and an absolutely bangin’ way to spend Thursday evening!
Next race is the last Thursday of August.

These guys are simply amazing!
While I was heading up to Pen y Fan on Sunday the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team and Brecon Mountain Rescue were assisting an unfortunate casualty back down off the mountain.
This was an unrelated incident from the event and thankfully there were no other injuries.
Marc Reardon a legend of the Beacons (pic5) was first on the scene and helped keep the casualty warm and calm while the team made their way up.
The work these teams of volunteers do is just incredible and selfless and I am always in awe of them.
If you don’t already give them a follow, donate if you can and don’t wear inappropriate clothing in the mountains.
