🤩 One wonderful day of filming at The Trinkie, Wick and a little further along the coastline to see the seal pups 🦭

Risso's, Harbour Porpoise and Minke Whale all seen today; although I didn't manage to film the Minke at the Trinkie! 🙄

Disclaimer on the seal pups; if you see any, always view from a distance and never approach them or any of the resting areas they inhabit.
My video is massively zoomed and heavily cropped from some filming at the cliff tops.
Pups need time to feed and gain weight...the Orca need a good meal! 👀🫍
Leaving them undisturbed is also the best way to witness these magical and intimate behaviours, captured in my video! 🤩

It was wonderful to speak to so many folk as always. Some locals and some visiting from much further afield. 🙌

🛘 A beautiful, birds eye view of the Old Man of Storr! 🤩

I captured this during a recent couples photoshoot on Skye.
The lovely Natalie & Miles, seen stood up on the rocks, were visiting from the USA. Myself & JK Highland Photography were there to capture some memorable moments for them. ☺️ A really fun afternoon! 🤩

There will be more to come from this session soon.

It's a wee hike from the car park to get up to the Old Man, but it's always worth it! Stunning place!

😲 A Minke Whale, head slapping & lunge feeding, just off Rosemarkie Bay! 🐋🤩

I originally thought this Minke was making multiple lunges while feeding, but on review of the footage it looks to be using a head slapping technique to feed.

The Minke moves in close to a school of fish, lifts it's head clear of the water and slaps back down.

The impact creates a sudden, booming sound underwater. This terrifies the fish and triggers them to bunch tightly together for safety...forming the perfect bait ball!
The Minke lunges, mouth wide open and scoops them up.

Interestingly, one of the clips in this video shows a failed attempt. The Minke head slaps multiple times, but doesn't go for the lunge; presumably because the fish hadn't moved into the tight bait ball worthy of a munch! 😁

My understanding is this behaviour has been witnessed before in the Moray Firth, but isn't the most common feeding technique. It's certainly my first time seeing it and i'm absolutely thrilled to have captured it! 🤩

Whale observed for approx. 3hrs before it got too dark.

🔥 Fire at Hopeman this evening; Tuesday 25.08.2026. Aerial images showing the extent of the fire at 2100hrs.

The fire is mostly out now with fire crews still working on hot spots scattered across the area.

Most of Hopeman is still without power.

🐬 Some leaping Bottlenose Dolphin action, as they passed Burghead yesterday. 12.08.2026

Such a large, spread out group! Easily 30 - 40+ Dolphins! Awesome to see so many pass through.

I've got more footage of them but I'll need to sort it all out! 🙃

🌅 My one photo of the partial solar eclipse as it started and before the cloud cover became too much to see the Sun! 😊 Still pretty cool!!

😁 This is me, following Justyna around the Highland Folk Museum as if I'm filming the next Highland Hollywood Blockbuster! 😆

As well as a lovely place to visit; this was a good practice for capturing some cinematic looking content; something I may be offering soon as a service! 🤩

Sometimes you just need to find the glow in the dark and have a wee tipple! 🥃
There's so many cosy pubs and restaurants to hide in, when it's raining in Inverness!
This video doesn't even cover half of them! 😱

Great to finally see places reopening at the Cairngorms but what a devastating fire it's been for the area. ☹️
With the Dava fire last year and the Cairngorm one this year...i wonder what will be learnt!

We are delighted to announce Cairngorm Mountain will reopen to visitors tomorrow, Friday 7 August 2026, following confirmation from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service that the access restrictions introduced during the recent wildfire in the Glenmore area will be lifted.

From Friday 7 August, the Cairngorm Mountain Railway and activities including Mountain Biking, Mountain Carting, Tubing Slides and the Adventure Play Park will all be operating as normal. All cafés, retail outlets and other attractions will also reopen, giving visitors the opportunity to experience everything the destination has to offer.

Mike Gifford, CEO of Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) Ltd, said:

"We are delighted to be welcoming visitors back to Cairngorm Mountain following what has been an incredibly difficult period for our people and community.

I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the incredible efforts of everyone who has been working to tackle the wildfire since it first broke out. Having seen first-hand how difficult it is to contain the spread and ensure hotspots are extinguished across such complex terrain, we have a huge appreciation for the dedication and resilience of everyone involved. Working through long days and nights in challenging conditions, their commitment to preventing further damage has been remarkable."

"While some areas of Glenmore Forest will remain closed to allow the incident response to continue, the Highland scenery and many of the special places people come to the Cairngorms to enjoy remain as beautiful as ever. As the area reopens, every visit will help support local jobs, local businesses and the wider community as we look towards recovery."

To allow firefighting operations to continue over the coming days, we have agreed with Forestry and Land Scotland and SFRS to relocate their helicopter compound to the Coire na Ciste car park while air support for water bombing remains on scene. As a result, the motorhome stopover facilities and walkers’ car park at the Ciste will be closed until Monday 10 August at the earliest.
