✨ Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty... ✨

Nine-year-old April from Danz Creations brought an abundance of personality, confidence, and musical theatre magic to her dance photoshoot last weekend!

Inspired by Matilda's iconic song "Naughty", April stepped into the studio ready to perform. From cheeky expressions and playful poses to elegant dance lines and stage-worthy confidence, she completely embraced the spirit of the character. 🎭💕

I absolutely love photographing young dancers because every child brings something unique, and April's vibrant personality shone through in every single image. She reminded us that dance isn't just about technique, it's about storytelling, confidence, and having the courage to let your personality take centre stage.

Thank you, April, for bringing your energy, enthusiasm, and a little bit of Matilda-inspired mischief to the studio. You were an absolute star! ⭐

My youngest sister Wendy left us 4 years ago today. Our world has never been the same….it seems so much of the colour has gone. She loved fiercely, felt everything deeply, and brought energy, laughter, and emotion wherever she went.

I read the following poem by Maya Angelou at her funeral. I am so grateful Wendy existed but oh how I wish she could have stayed with us longer.

🖤 I miss you, Wends. 🖤

When great trees fall,
rocks on distant hills shudder,
lions hunker down
in tall grasses,
and even elephants
lumber after safety.

When great trees fall
in forests,
small things recoil into silence,
their senses
eroded beyond fear.

When great souls die,
the air around us becomes
light, rare, sterile.
We breathe, briefly.
Our eyes, briefly,
see with
a hurtful clarity.
Our memory, suddenly sharpened,
examines,
gnaws on kind words
unsaid,
promised walks
never taken.

Great souls die and
our reality, bound to
them, takes leave of us.
Our souls,
dependent upon their
nurture,
now shrink, wizened.
Our minds, formed
and informed by their
radiance,
fall away.
We are not so much maddened
as reduced to the unutterable ignorance
of dark, cold
caves.

Four years ago today was my sister Wendy’s last day on this earth. We didn’t realise it at the time. She didn’t realise it, I’m sure. I remember a vivid sunset. The sky was ablaze with colour. I didn’t realise the most beautiful fading light was hers. “If only”, “I should have”, “Why didn’t I?”…..all futile longings but they are there nevertheless. Be still my heart today.

Sending love to those who have lost. Sending love to my sister Wendy - as she lives on in her beautiful girls. You would be so proud of them, Wends. ❤️

Today won’t be a great day.
It wont be a bad day either.

Today will just be a ‘day’.

24 hours of absolutely everything.

Moments of joy, fear, uncertainty, pride, love.
Flashes of loss, happiness, connection and loneliness.

Moments swathed in every colour of the spectrum of emotion and humanity

Moment by moment.
Wrapped in hours, that make up one day.

JUST A DAY.

You’ve lived through plenty and you’ll live through many more.

So.

Do not entitle this 24 hour parcel as anything other than what it is…
A slice of life.

Go live it.

Moment by moment.

And be ready for them all.
