Sometimes I just need a little fresh air, and I need it in the remote parts of Scotland 💙🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Slowly, peacefully and as moody as possible.

Going to actual therapy was good, but this sure helps too.

Send this to the person you think needs a breath of fresh air 🧡

Orkney feels like stepping into another world…

Where ancient history, wild coastlines and endless skies all meet. From the towering Standing Stones of Stenness to the perfectly placed Ring of Brodgar, these islands carry a quiet kind of magic that’s impossible to rush through.

Standing among stones that have watched over Orkney for thousands of years really makes you feel small in the best possible way. 🌿✨

Have you ever visited a place that instantly transported you through time?

Does Orkney have the best standing stones in Scotland?🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Oban is a harbour town to the Highlands and Islands, sea air in your lungs, and adventure waiting in every direction visited by many arriving in Scotland… and some of the best fish and chips in the country 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿💙

From hidden forests to ancient castles, there’s so much to explore around Oban before setting off to any islands.
Which spot would you head to first?

Here is your wee guide to How Oban for places to visit and how long they take by car 🚗

📍 Fairy Bridge of Glen Creran - 30 mins
📍 Kilchurn Castle / St Conan’s Kirk - 35/40 mins
📍 Clachan Bridge (bridge over the Atlantic) - 25 mins
📍 Duntrune Castle - 60 mins
📍 Carnasserie Castle - 50 mins
📍 Dunadd Fort - 60 mins
📍 Dunstaffnage Castle - 10 mins
📍 Castle Stalker - 30 mins
📍 Glencoe - 60 mins

A lot of history in the area with Kilmartin Glen regarded as a hidden gem in general with various standing stones too.

Dunadd Fort might not look like much but this was the capital of the Iron Age and Gaelic Kingdom of Dal Riata and there is still a large flat stone with a footprint said to have formed part of the coronation of Kings during its use making this a must for history lovers!

I drove an hour and a half after work on Friday down to Perthshire and got home late to bring you these scenes…

Kinclaven Bluebell Woods are a bit off the usual tourist roadtrip route but they were absolutely worth visiting late at night to watch the warm light wash over the incredibly vibrant Forrest scene.

This maybe has another week or so of looking this good so be quick and send this to the person you think must visit!

But if you do, please heed the signs and stick to the paths to protect this wonderful display of nature in the heart of Scotland.

It’s a lovely loop for a walk whether you’re a photographer or just love the outdoors and a nice slow peaceful moment.

What was less peaceful was the deer that jumped in front of my car driving home on the A90 forcing me to emergency brake and swerve… 🫠 fortunately for me, the deer and my car survived.

Some places don’t just feel ancient… they feel otherworldly. ✨

Standing among the stones at Callanish Stones felt like stepping straight into an episode of Outlander, where time bends, the wind carries old stories, and the line between past and present disappears… at least on the tv show.

The second capture is an ICM image that almost looks like being transported through the stones themselves… as if the stones were pulling you into another century. ⚡️

Scotland really does know how to blur the line between reality and legend.

Which photo feels the most magical to you?

Just a wee 30 seconds of Scotland being Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Where the light meets the land, where history is found at every turn and where you feel it as much as you see it.

Scotland, you’re affa bonnie.

On a wild and stormy day on my trip to Harris, this day above all I was glad of the weather. The winds were gusting and it was a risky day for putting up the drone but I was glad I took the chance.

The colours and mood with the light dancing across the choppy waves and dancing dunes, made it one of my favourite moments captured.

Nisabost beach also has the community run across from it where you can enjoy these views with some lovely home made food. After taking these photos I went in and enjoyed a cheese toastie and some vegetable broth soup that took me back to my childhood as it tasted just like my gran used to make… a higher compliment I could not give.

A small group of people walking dogs were perfectly timed too for adding to this scene I think 🤌🏻

Save this for a great lunchtime spot on the Isle of Harris. 💙

Two beaches. One morning. Zero filters.

Just after sunrise, with the wind whipping across the dunes and the Atlantic Ocean… Seilebost and Luskentyre Beach looked like they belonged somewhere far more tropical than Scotland.

White sand, turquoise water, and light that changed by the second… with a water temperature that would quickly remind you where you are 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Moments like this are why early alarms are always worth it.

Tag someone who’d never believe this is Scotland, and share this with the person you’d bring here. 🌅🏝️

Sunset at Callanish Stones feels like stepping into another dimension. As the sky burns gold and the shadows stretch across the moor, these ancient stones stand exactly where they have for thousands of years… watching every sunset long before any of us arrived.

Some places don’t just look beautiful - they make you feel small, curious, and connected to something far older than yourself.

Your mind wanders and travels to when they were put here, why and how did they get there and that is part of the real beauty in visiting historic sites and letting your imagination run free.

What do you think though, worth a late dinner and hanging around for sunset? 🌅
