A story behind a school photo..
This school photo may seem like any other, but it holds a story unlike any other. This photo should have been taken by a different photographer, in a different corner of the world.
Yet two years ago life brought me face to face with this remarkable little girl. She emerged from the chaos of war-torn Ukraine, leaving behind her grandmother, her friends, and her beloved cat, embarking on a thousand-mile journey in search of safety. It’s not the kind of story you expect to hear on a typical school photo day. No child, no adult, should have a story like this.
Yet, despite all the hardships, her resilience shines through. A quality I believe only children possess - their remarkable capacity to embrace the present and leave the past behind. Humbled by her spirit, I wish one day I could learn to live with such grace, joy and gratitude.

История одной фотографии..
Эту фотографию должен был снять другой фотограф, в другой школе и другой стране. Но, так сложилось, что жизнь привела эту девочку через войну и расставания с любимыми людьми и любимой кошкой, через 1000 км ко мне. Я люблю фотографии, в которых есть история, но в этот раз за историю пришлось заплатить очень высокую цену.
И несмотря на все страдания, у детей есть удивительная способность радоваться каждому дню и жить с широко открытыми счастливыми глазами. Мне бы очень хотелось когда-то этому научиться.
