One dancer. One shoot. So many possibilities.

One of the things parents are often surprised by is just how much variety can come from a single session.

From strong technical images that showcase flexibility and control, to more creative portraits and playful moments, every shoot is designed to explore different sides of a dancer's personality and ability.

This is Grace's second shoot and as before she brought beautiful technique, plenty of energy, and a willingness to try new ideas — which always leads to a great gallery. A super smiley dancer!

The result isn't just a collection of photographs.

It's a record of who they are at this stage of their journey.

Three dancers. Evelyn, Jacob and Beatrice. One family. Three completely different personalities.

One of the things I enjoy most is seeing how siblings approach a shoot differently.

Give them the same studio, the same props, and the same opportunities, and they’ll still come up with their own ideas, movements and ways of expressing themselves.

These three brought plenty of creativity, a few unexpected moments, and reminded me that some of the best images happen when dancers are given the freedom to explore.

Every shoot ends up being a little different.

And that's exactly how it should be.

One stool. One awesome Lily.

Five completely different images.

One of the things I love about introducing props into a session is seeing what happens next. Give a dancer something simple to work with and suddenly new shapes, lines and ideas begin to appear.

The stool doesn't create the photograph.

The dancer does.

It becomes a tool for exploring movement, creativity and imagination in a different way.

And sometimes the most interesting ideas are the ones nobody planned.

A busy summer lies ahead, but Register to Win remains open and the diary is now extending into autumn. For some families, a quieter September session feels like the perfect fit.
